They must've learned from last year's bad experience where they asked for too much or they'd have had Manny and the Bosox paying for his salary.

Yeah, that would have been awesome. I'm sure Manny would have been a joy to have in DC.

No, not DC, Calm.

The Fish turned down Boston's offer to take Manny off their hands *and* the Sox would've paid Manny's salary last year. The Fish insisted on something like another $250K on top of having Manny's salary paid in full. Dodgers came in a swept him up out from under the Fish's noses.

Now what kind of nitwit turns down an offer of a top hitting player and his salary getting covered and he'd be an almost lock to put butts in the seats of a team that was out of contention??

You are forgetting that the Red Sox wanted prospects in return.

Good prospects.

For a guy the Marlins had no chance of re-signing past the end of the season.

Doing that deal would've made little sense. I've explained this to you before, but apparently you've forgotten.

The BoSox are just trying to makeup for a less than stellar return on trading away Hanley.

They shouldn't be too cross...Lowell and Beckett were key parts of 2 World Series championships.
