    Braves Pitching

Everyone is concentrating on starters, Fulmer, Gray, Verlander and others, but looking at the Braves pitching realistically, they are in trouble.

13 throwers on roster. Of which, IMO, 3 are MLB ready to varying degrees. Folty, Dickey, and Ramirez. There are a couple of others with lesser degrees of readiness, Julio and Vizcaino. On the cusp are Newcomb, Freeman, and Vizcaino.

There are NO honorable mentions as the rest suck to varying degrees of ineptitude. Johnson, Brothers, Krol, and Hursh are at the bottom of the pecking order. They are followed closely by Morris and Jackson(now with Gwinnett),

Where are the priorities in the off season?? Without a question, Braves need to find a couple of starters in the system or on the market to start the '18 season in Atlanta. They also need to find a closer, and 3 set up PITCHERS, not throwers.

The throwing staff should have at least 5 new faces or up to 7 new faces for '18 .MiLB throwers in Atlalnta next year could be Medlen, Sims, Albers. Some consideration could be given to Weigle, Cabrera and Gohara.

Hopefully, the FA market will be to the Braves likings.

Sims called up to make MLB debut vs Dodgers on Tuesday. No move to send down anyone. Garcia's spot was still open after Blair was sent back down.

Saw an odd bit of info. Johnson said he signed his extension with Braves to pitch with McDo-well as coach.

I'd never heard of Henderson prior to this season.

In game 4 vs Phiiiies Folty threw 100 pitches in 4 innings, gave up 5 runs on 7 hits, 3 BBs, 3 Ks, and 1 HR. He had 5 full counts. 5 more innings of relief by the BP. In 24 July games, the BP threw 77.2 innings compared to the starters throwing 138.2. Is it any wonder the team ERA rose from June of 4.52 to July 5.31.

Sims follows a very disturbing Braves starters trend --- high pitch counts. Sims goes 6 IP, 6 hits, 3 ERs, 3 Ks, 1 HR, and 92 pitches(60/32)

It appears that there is NO solution coming. Hernandez apparently doesn't have the answer. Looking at his past coaching, he's been around MLB for a long time but never very long as a MLB pitching coach. 2 years appears to be his longest stint. Factoring in Johnson's comments about wanting to continue to pitch for McDo-well, I wonder why/where/how long Hernandez is going to be around. This year's pitching stats are the worst in 3 years.

Newcomb continues the the Hernandez mold of pitching --- high pitch counts and BBs. Thru 3 IP in game 3 vs Dodgers, Newcomb with 68 pitches, 4 BBs, 5 Ks. One of the BBs drove in the Dodgers only run so far.

    After 3, 1-1.

I liked how Sims bounced back after a rough 1st on Sunday. Did it to himself but after that settled in and still got through 6.

I'm hopeful Newcomb can do what Folty dud and harness the control more in the majors. He shows the flashes of just dominance but losing the strike zone too much.

I think Galvin or one of the former guys has said you need to give guys a legit chance to start...I think they said at least 40-60 to really start to figure things out. That's rough to watch at times but Folty could be am example of that it just takes time.

The next wave after these guys though might have guys who show more immediate success tho?

SOS start for Julio game 1 vs Phiiiies. 5 IP, 5 ERs, 105 pitches, 3 BBs, 6 Ks

Freeman in for the 6th, Ks the 1st 2, then a BBs and single, FC 6-4 ends the inning

Freddie with solo shot in 1st.

Watching the game on TV is slower than computer on MLB.com. Inciarte GO 1-3, Phillips pops out to 1st and TV hasn't shown 1st pitch to Inciarte yet. Freddie GO 6-3 as Inciarte takes ball 2.

Albers traded to Ms for cash??? WHY?????

Albers was 12-3 with a 2.61 ERA in 26 games (17 starts) for the Braves’ Triple-A Gwinnett affiliate after signing a minor league deal last winter. The 31-year-old drew some trade interest after a terrific stretch of pitching lately in which he’d posted a 6-0 record and 0.98 ERA in his past eight starts including eight innings of one-run ball in a Thursday win against Louisville.

Folty is a firm believer in Hernandez' pitching scheme/method!!! Stays in the mold of other Braves starters, high pitch counts and BBs.

    2 IP, 4 ERs, 4 hits(3 DBLs), 4 BBs, 1 K, 58 pitches

Sims follows Hernandez' method of pitching from behind. 5.1 IP with 10 hits, 98 pitches(62 strikes), 5 runs(4ER),1 BBs, 3 Ks. Made throwing error on attempted bunt.

Dickey doesn't fit Hernandez' mold of a Braves pitcher.

So, if Hernandez is retained, Dickey will be gone. If Hernandez is gone, Dickey will be retained.

Jim Johnson must be begging the Braves to trade him because he wanted to pitch for McDo-well.

Snitckers blows this Julio gem. Brings in bROTHERS TO START bOT 8TH ---

Blackmon leads off with triple, and INT BBs then a Swanson error, 1-0 Rockies, followed by a single moves Brothers out of game.

In comes Motte who walks the 1st batter he faces to load the bases. A Cargo singles drives in 2, a lucky DP ends the inning.

Yes, the worst 2 relievers on the Braves staff blow Julio's best outing of the year.3-0 Rockies after 8

Braves are 0-7 w/RISP and 5 LOB. SUCKOLLA!!!!!!
