    Braves Ho Hum!!!!

Am I reading something into this?? Swanson on the bench again with Camargo at SS, Rodriquez at 3rd and Phillips at 2nd.

I have long advocated the fact that Swanson is a poor hitter and always will be alla Francouer. Swanson can't hit the slider and can't/won't lay off the pitch. And, his floating right foot makes for a poor hitting foundation.

Vizacino is ready to be called up later this week. Does Swanson pay a visit to Gwinnett until he learns to deal with the splitter?? Hursh and Peterson were sent down making room for Rodriquez and Santana.

    From AJC article

Dansby Swanson’s erratic first full season in the majors reached a new stage Monday when manager Brian Snitker said the high-profile rookie shortstop would not be in the everyday lineup for now and wouldn’t rule out the possibility that Swanson could be sent back to the minors.

If Snitker and the Braves were ever content to keep running a slumping rookie out there every day for the sake of his long-term development rather than the team’s immediate success, they aren’t now.

Swanson was 5-for-40 (.125) in his past 14 games before Monday with three doubles, three RBIs, six walks, 16 strikeouts, a .125 OBP and .200 slugging percentage. He had three doubles and three RBIs in a two-game stretch June 30-July 1 at Oakland. In nine games since then, he was 2-for-25 with nine strikeouts and no RBIs.

He has been particularly vulnerable to the slider all season, with pitchers who utilize that pitch putting Swanson away after getting ahead in count

Back to reality for Newcomb vs Cubs. Thru 4 IP, 4 ER, 2 BBs, 2 HRs, 5 hits, 4 Ks. Trails 4-1.

How is Swanson looked at by opposing teams???

Dodgers INT BB to Rodriquez(0-8 since being called up while hitting .067 during rehab) to load the bases to get to Swanson. He Ks again, 82 on season.

That's about the lowest respect for an opposing player that can be shown.

Swanson should be in Gwinnett learning how to hit the slider or at least learn to recognize it and don't swing.

Another POS trade for Coppy, Garcia and Recker + 100K for a MiLB pitcher rated to be at best a #4 MLB starter when he finally makes his way out of rookie ball at age 19.

The Twins have acquired lefty Jaime Garcia and catcher Anthony Recker from the Braves, per a club announcement. In return, Atlanta acquires young righty Huascar Ynoa.
As part of the swap, the Braves will send $100K to cover a piece of Recker’s remaining salary, Jon Heyman of Fan Rag tweets. Minnesota is absorbing all of Garcia’s remaining salary, per MLB.com’s Mark Bowman (via Twitter); that represents just over $4.5MM of the original $12MM salary.

Waa the market for Garcia not that good? I mean I wasn't expecting some awesome return for him but...

Unless Coppy is trying to move some money around for some reliever(s) that would be here a couple years or a starter?

Will be a couple years at least before we see how this will be on our side.

I wonder what we could have got if we paid half or more of the remaining contract he had?

Some have said that the deal for Garcia was to gain $$$ for a Gray deal. I question that logic.

My big question is why make this deal right away?? Why not wait for a few days and see what else is offered? The Dodgers have lost Kershaw for 4-6 weeks. Would have gotten in the Garcia sweepstakes??

But, my biggest concern/question is why is Snitckers so set on keeping Swanson in Atl and not gaining any confidence or learning to hit the slider or at least not swing at it alla Frenchy. Even last year, Frenchy still hadn't learned anything about the slider, 10 years in the MLB.

I saw damn little last year to impress me about Aaron Blair. In start vs Snakes, I saw nothing to change my mind. 3 IP, 5 ER, 5 hits, 5 BBs, 75 pitches .

Of course he's not alone. Wisler is in same boat. I don't see much of a reason to keep them around. Their MiLB stats are not much better than what they have shown in MLB and are not improving very much. With all of the other talent the Braves have in MiLB, these 2 are trade fodder IMO.

Jackson came in and gave up 2 more runs in 1 IP on a HR.

Morris threw 2.2 innings of of 1 run ball before the bottom fell out.

For the most part, the BP has sucked in July, probably because of so much work. Starters with short outings. 120.2 IP in 21 starts= 5.2 IP per start. Relievers have thrown 65.0 innings giving up 46 ERs.

It appears that the Braves need relievers as well as a top of rotation starter.

Apparently others are of same impression about Blair and Wisler.

Yes, it won't get any easier to make it with this team, for the reason you cited. Might eventually need change of scenery.

What they even do with Blair and Wisler now? Just let them stay at AAA? Soon there will be better SP prospects than them in at AAA too.

Julio and Braves imploding in the 5th vs Phiiiies.

Back to back jacks makes it 3-0 with 0 outs.

A walk and a triple with E-4 throwing scores the 4th and 5th runs. Braves have made 3 errors thus far. Triple credited because Mrakakis tried to make a diving catch and blew it. ball to wall.

With 2 outs and runners on 1st/2nd, Joseph hits 3rd HR of inning to make score 8-0. Julio out and goes straight to locker room. Sam Freeman in.

Kemp thrown out at 2B trying to stretch single to DBL, then left game with hammy problem. Santana in LF. Is Coppy trying to get rid of Kemp?? If not, he should be.

I thought when those trades were made Wiser was the better bet to make it as a 3 or 4 in the rotation or maybe transition to a Kate inning reliever. I think he could still do the latter but don't think he has a future in the rotation here.

Blair...he seems like he should at least show out more. But he pitches....scared?, timid?, something...

Maybe a change helps both have some nice little career and havevsuccess.

Another short outing from Braves starter, Newcomb goes 5 innings, 96 pitches, 2 hits, 1 ER, 3 BBs, 4 Ks. Problem was inability to get an out with 2 strikes without going to 2-2 or 3-2 counts. It's no wonder that the BP's ERA is 3 runs higher in July than June.

And Braves hitters aren't helping anything, in game 2 vs Phiiiies they are 1-12 w/RISP and 9 LOB. Have had the bases loaded 3 times. 5 of Braves 7 hits have been DBLs. Only 1 of those DBLs has scored. One of 3 Braves runs was scored on an error.

Johnson blows another save giving up HR to Herrera in 9th to tie the game. Johnson now leads the MLB with 8 blown saves.

Someone asked on another board what could the Braves get for Johnson, my thoughts are a wet, well used rosin bag would be hard to get.

But to be fair, it should have never gotten to a save opportunity as the Braves are 1-14 w/RISP, and 8 LOB in scoring position.

Snitckers trying his best to lose game 3. Score tied going to Bot 8th, he bring Johnson in, an E-3, WP, BBs and he gets yanked with runners 1st/2nd, 1 out.

Brothers in to face Herrera who Ks for 2nd out. Now Franco who Ks swinging.

    Braves 1-6 w/RISP, 8 LOB, 2 errors, 5 WP, 2 PB.

In comes Morris for the 9th and he loads the bases for Galvis who singles in the winning run. Use of BP is questionable!!!

    Braves had 8 hits, added 4 BBs, 7 Ks, made 2 errors, 1-8 w/RISP, 8 LOB.

    Totals for 3 games 3-26 w/RISP, 26 LOB.

After another poor outing, Snitckers says Johnson no longer "primary" closer.
