Stafford is a good player, but I am not sure I want him to have the richest contract in NFL history.
Stafford's current contract now ranks something like 18-20 in average per year for QBs. Getting the richest contract in history will be brief and just part of the deal. By the time his next contract is up it will be well down in the rankings. Everyone talks about teams going away from star QBs and winning with lesser talent. But look at the final 4 QBs this year. You just don't win with scabs unless it is a fluke.
Stafford is not a scab QB but he is not a star QB either. He needs to improve a lot in the red zone and also in his progressions. He focuses too much on the target called in the play. He will never be the QBAarons Rogers. I would rate Stafford some where around 10th to 12th of the 32 teams starting QB's. Not convinced that warrant's the richest contract as a QB.
