What about Acuna??? Yes, he's only 19 but I remember another 19 year old who came up and hit 2 HRs in game 1 of WS.
Oh, I've slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings......

And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

I think Acuna could be here rather quickly. But we have a stable outfield that will hopefully produce so I don't think they will rush him. If he comes knocking though I'm sure they'd figure things out.

Braves have signed James Loney to a Milb contract.

Can do worse than Loney. Assuming he shows he is ready in AAA with the bat.

It's taken over a month, but it finally has happened.

    Braves DFA Collmenter. YEA!!!!

    Call up Wisler

That leaves room to send Motte down when Adonis comes off DL. Now, get rid of Bonifacio when Cabrera is ready, then Santana when Freddie is ready.

Colon should join Collmenter in the unemployment line... As well as Bonifacio and Santana...

Would someone refresh my memory please, Why did we get rid of Simba a couple of years ago. He's hittin 100 pts better than Blaa with more power.

While with the Braves, Simba's best BA was .289, in 2012 with 166 plate appearances. At this point in his career, he is a .261 BA and a .310 OBP player. Give Swanson 6 years in the majors and then compare them. Goodness... People want to jump all over a player because he isn't the second coming of Trout.

Yes, Swanson is struggling right now. Seems normal to me. And I am finished with this topic.

Kemp moving up in AS votes for OFers.

    He's behind Heyward(3rd).

I thought they changes the way votes were cast and that votes were cast by position, not an OFer in general.

Newcomb was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday at Triple-A Gwinnett so he could be ready to pitch Saturday for the big league team. Matt Wisler will also be brought up from Triple-A to start the other game of the doubleheader, which has separate admission and start times of 1:05 p.m. and 6:05 p.m.

If Swanson lasts 6 years he would have lasted longer than either Frenchy(3 years = 2 half seasons), both hit far better than Swanson has been hitting, 1st year(2005, 70 games), .300, last year with Braves(2010, 80 games hitting .250)

    Jason 5 years hitting .277 1st season(2010),. last season with Braves 2014 .271. low year, 2011 .277.

6 years would be a stretch.

I'm done talking about Swanson and his continually weak batting foundation. And his swagger in the field does little to over shadow his MLB leading SS errors. Also done talking about Colon and Dickey and what is probably a waste of 20mil+.

The Braves have released lefty Eric O’Flaherty, per a club announcement. He had been on the 10-day DL.
A roster spot was needed so that catcher Anthony Recker could be brought up. Kurt Suzuki is on the bereavement list, creating the need for another backstop.
The 32-year-old O’Flaherty has continued to find work over the past several seasons, but hasn’t really been the same since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2013. In 18 1/3 innings this season, he struggled to a 7.85 ERA with 7.4 K/9 and 4.4 BB/9.

    MiLB moves ---

    DFansby down to Gwinnett

    Gohara moved up to Gwinnett

    Toussaint up to AA

That makes 8 of Braves top pitching prospects in either AA or AAA.

If Gohara and Touki have both turned the corner with their control...

They might have the highest upsides of any of the guys in AA or AAA imo. Some of their outings this year have just been filthy with their stuff.

    Fun times!

    Waiver trades???

    • With the Braves holding on deadline day, MLB.com’s Mark Bowman takes stock of the months to come. Second baseman Brandon Phillips, reliever Jim Johnson, and starter R.A. Dickey could all be possible August trade chips, he notes, while the inclination of the organization remains to consider deals involving first baseman Matt Adams over the offseason. Meanwhile, Atlanta continues its long-standing pursuit of controllable pitching, though that’ll surely await the end of the current season.

Brandon Phillips to start at 3rd in game 2 vs Dodgers. It appears that he will be the Braves 3B for the foreseeable future.

Good!!! Keeps Rodriquez off the field and out of line up.

    Another POS picked by Coppy

The Braves have received first baseman Kevin Franklin from the Reds, per an announcement from the Cincinnati organization. He represents the player to be named later from the February swap that sent infielder Brandon Phillips to Atlanta.
Franklin, 22, was taken in the second round of the 2013 draft. But he has yet to make much progress through the system. Indeed, he has topped out thus far at the High-A level, with tepid numbers all along the way. This year, Franklin has appeared in only 27 A-ball games, posting an ugly .179/.225/.238 batting line.
