You'd have to ask the guy who wrote the article.

It's still less than 2% of the population of ballplayers.

I'll ask this, and I bet it's an easy answer.

Ask the same 12 assholes if they would rather have Bryce Harper with his 1.100 OPS and 10 WAR and lazy work ethic (lol)

or someone like David Eckstein and his .650 OPS, who sprints to first base when he walks! WHOOO! He busts his tail all the time, and puts up about a 2.0 WAR per season?

Do you want to win? Or do you want to be gritty and hustle and battle every game?

I think the Nats told him that they were going to suspend him for the rest of the season regardless of whether he took his MLB-sanctioned suspension. So he dropped his beanball appeal, took that suspension, and then got 4 games from the Nats.

a poll of former and current players, you may want to adjust that. and the comments seem to be from those out of the league jealous of how good Harper is and relief pitchers, if another article talking about the results is correct.

He probably called up a bunch of pitchers. Dudes who were butthurt about Paps getting called out by Harper for throwing at Machado.

Statistics have never, ever been manipulated to create an agenda though, so it's almost certainly legit.

I'm still going with the fact that they all agree. Even with the high variability and small sample size. Harper called out Papelbon on the Machado incident in front of the media. Still agree that choking is not the answer. Papelbon is a male body part. But no one is above giving 100%. Doesn't sound like we will ever agree other than to say we both don't like both players.

A former reliever who is already butt-hurt that Harper complained about Paps' headhunting decides to write a story about how much of an asshole Harper is.

I wonder who he'd call to validate this opinion?

The difference is, Harper has been told to dial back his on-field intensity, because he was getting hurt going all-out in the field. And no one had questioned his hustle until that moment.

So, color me suspicious of this "sample".

someone tried to throw some preseason survey results at me about Harper being the most overrated in the game, which even if it is true, it isn't his fault.

now, after the season he has had, I don't think they would call him overrated.

plus I don't see what that has to do with this situation.

Eleven anonymous players and LaTroy Hawkins.

Cliff Floyd and Mark DeRosa are willing to go on record and say Paps is wrong.
