Someone woke up on the optimistic side of the bed.
Bonus fake Keith Jackson appearance: "Whoa, Nellie, we have ourselves a barn-burner here today! Welcome to the 117th dust-up between the Snortin' Swine of Springfield A&M and the Springfield University Nittany Tide. Ho, ho, doctor, break out the hickory switch! Well, hang on to your hoop skirts, folks, because Anton Lubchenko is going to be kicking higher than a mule on payday. Oh, land o'lakes! Take that, ozone layer! (later in the game) Oh, doctor, with SU behind and seconds left, my supply of homespun sayings is lower than a doodlebug in Aunt Tilly's root cellar. So we'll -- Oh, jumpin' crawdaddies! Is that Lubchenko coming back on the field?"
SU Nittany Tide's own Anton Lubchenko!

    6 runs, I agree. 5 in game 1, 1 in game 2 and 0 in game 3.

I guess with the whole new bad offense, we don't have to worry about sinkerballers killing us. That takes some of the pressure off the Cahill start.

My favorite play from my favorite player.
That's a gift run. Nice start, Juan.

    Worst ump in the league.

Is Pence injured, or just resting?
MEMO to Jimmy Rollins: The best team won. Yes, it's still the dog days of August and the Mets have to travel to beautiful Philadelphia tomorrow, but the NL East race is over. Though the Yankees are fighting for their playoff souls, the Mets are merrily on their way to another October. This really wasn't much of a race. Despite all the Mets problems, despite the fact they left the door wide open in the division, the Phillies and Braves have not been able to step through the portal. So at 6:47 last night when Aaron Heilman got Luis Gonzalez to bounce into a 1-6-3 double play to give the Mets a 4-3 win over the Dodgers at sweaty Shea Stadium, the NL East race came to a close.

Sixers clinch a playoff berth, handing the Nets a nice little parting gift for their last game in NJ. Kendrick sucks.
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity, I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
