You know, I had him falling in my first mock just on my own intuition...all the way down like 20 or something. Kid is a headcase, and I'm not surprised. I just hope the Hawks are smart enough to let Coples slide on by and get Kuechly...assuming the Chiefts don't nab him first.

Not sure Branch translates to a OLB in the 3-4. He's definitely not a DE in the 3-4.

    He may work out.

I really don't think the Packers draft another OLB in the 2nd when their real problem may be pass rush from the DL.

The intel I found said Branch is either ROLB or DRE so he might be able to take Jenkins spot better than Neal did. Can't do much worse as long as he stays healthy. I guess it depends on how much patience they have to let him develop a bit.

The fact that we lost Okoye, signed 2 DBs and cut Anthony adams tells me we wont be going Dre Kirkpatrick with #19. Nick Perry would more than likely be the pick.

I guess I thought Perry was a reach at 19 and pegged the Titans as more willing to make that reach than the Bears.

Nah, he's too small for the 3-4 they way the Packer's play it.

So he needs to put on about 30 pounds or so, then he might fit in. Maybe Akiem Hicks is a better fit at 6'4" 324?

What happened to Alshon Jeffrey? I thought that guy was supposed to be a superstar.
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity, I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.

He puts on weight and loses speed? Too risky IMO.

I have Hicks going to the Packers around round 5 in my mock.

I like the Irvin pick, though, just not after a tweener. Give me a big body that can move the pile and still generate pass rush for that 3-4 end. I want a 3-down DE, not a pass rush specialist at 28.

Probably the best WR in the draft IMO.

Some internet idiot started a rumor that he was fat and out of shape. Unfounded.

I guess getting thrown out of his bowl game hurt him?

Ran a better 40 than that much smaller Baylor guy who everybody loves for some reason.

He catches everything. I am puzzled by it all.

It's tough to sift through the media-based scrambling of the talent. When you're ranking the guys, who do you trust to report the real truth?

If I can't read up on him, or never saw him play, or can't access his highlights, I guess I will just go with a ???.

The real truth is when he plays against real NFL talent.

Even the NFL scouts who do this for a living are about half wrong on first rounds. The best in the business still pick clunkers.

I am sifting through some small school or otherwise under-rated players.

Guys like Brian Quick at Appalachain State who everybody knows about now.

Then there's Joe Long, from Wayne St.

He's Jake Long's brother, so you would think that alone would get him in the draft.

But for some reason their is no real good scouting report on him.

He's got a pedigree, 45 strait starts, GLIAC offensive lineman of the year, it seems prepared to be an NFL lineman except for level of competition.

But he's ranked as a Free Agent and the 37th best OT in the draft.

The scouting reports are sparse and not flattering, except his East-West Shrine game report gives a glimmer of hope.

    And good luck finding highlights.

I have a HUNCH that he will be a good NFL player. I would definitely draft him in the late rounds because I think he will develop.

I have been getting rankings from cbssports who steals their rankings from NFL Draft Scout. I do some of my own changes. I never buy anyone's assessment 100%. But, as usual, there are some huge disparities about where guys rank.

Those rankings are not too far off. 28 to 58 is maybe 2 or 3 OLBs in between

Ted Thompson does have his eye on the guy. I would guess that 28 is too high, but if that's his guy...
