If these guys don't get healthy soon, the Blues are going to need to make a trade for a forward.

Langenbrunner Out with Broken Foot Forward was injured Feb. 19 and will be re-evaluated in four weeks St. Louis Blues


ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday the club has placed forward Jamie Langenbrunner on injured reserve.

Langenbrunner suffered a broken bone in his left foot Sunday in Chicago and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Langenbrunner, 36, has posted 21 points including four goals and 17 assists in 57 games with the Blues this season.

The 6’1, 202-pound forward is just eight games shy of becoming the 21st American-born player in NHL history to reach 1,100 games played.

The Cloquet, Minnesota native was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 6, 2011.

We need to acquire a goal scorer, especially with Steen and Langenbrunner out.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Sunday the club has activated forward Jamie Langenbrunner from injured reserve.

Langenbrunner has missed the past 10 games after suffering a broken bone in his left foot on Feb. 19 in Chicago. He was originally expected to be re-evaluated four weeks from the injury, but Langenbrunner has been skating with the team in recent days and will return ahead of schedule.

Kris Russell had a second intensive day of skating this morning at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. The defenseman, who has been out since a concussion on Feb. 3, has not experienced any concussion-related setbacks in recent days, so Hitchcock said now it's a matter of fitness. The hope is that Russell will be available for the Wednesday game.
"It's just building it up," the coach said. "It's fitness-based. He's been out for a little while. This is about building up the fitness base. There are certain numbers endurance-wise we need players to get to before we consider them to be players. Now we're dealing with a fitness-based issue. Once the fitness level is up then we can go with him."

I really wish we'd have traded one of our defensemen (not Pietro or Shattenkirk, obviously) for a forward. We're kinda thin up front.

It seems like Russell is the closest, then D'Agostini and Steen's return is up in the air. I hope McDonald returning to practice means he's ready to go before the playoffs.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Sunday the club has activated forward Alex Steen from injured reserve.

Steen, 28, has missed the last 39 games due to a concussion, last appearing on Dec. 27, 2011 at Detroit.

This season, the 6’1”, 206-pound forward has played in 36 games, recording 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists), 22 penalty minutes and a +20 rating.

Steen, a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was acquired by the Blues from Toronto along with Carlo Colaiacovo in exchange for Lee Stempniak on Nov. 24, 2008 and he was originally drafted by Toronto in the first round, 24th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

In addition, defenseman Kris Russell will also return to the lineup tonight. Russell has been sidelined with a concussion since Feb. 23 against Nashville.

D'Agostini back. That leaves McDonald and Polak as the lone injured players. The Blues have not played with every member healthy at any point this season. It'd be nice to get those two back for the final 3-4 games just to see them together before the playoffs begin.

McDonald and Polak are both expected to play tonight vs. Columbus. This will be the first game this season with every player healthy.
