-so here is a elaborate deal I came up with
-First the Yankees sign Jaret Wright
-Braves sign Millwood, Dye, Burnitz, Drew
-4 team deal-
-D'Backs Get-
~Mike Hampton (Braves pay 2mil, Yanks pay 5, D'Backs pay 1)
~Jaret Wright (Yanks sign and trade and pay all of his salary)
~Ugueth Urbina (from DET)
-Yankees Get-
~Randy Johnson
~Andrew Jones
-Braves Get-
~Javier Vazaquez (yanks pay 50% of his contract)
-Tigers Get-
~Chris Reitsma
~Pete Orr (Braves 2B prospect)
~Dioner Navarro (From NY)
-The D'Backs would get the 2 starters like they wanted and the closer plus would only being paying 1 mil/year.
-Yankees would do this for Randy Johnson and Andrew Jones.
-Braves would do this to get a starter and clear some back-loaded salary. Plus after this I would trade Giles to OAK for Hudson, Mulder, or Zito. I probably would also try to trade Chipper to maybe boston for the OF prospect murphy to free up salary and third base for Marte.
-Detroit would get two future starters and a set-up man for their "new" closer.
so after all of my madness...........
-Line-up-
1.Furcal SS
2.Drew CF
3.Estrada C (not sure how else to arrange it)
4.Burnitz RF (I like him because he is a true clean-up hitter and he bridges the gap to Francoeur well)
5.Dye LF
6.Laroche 1B
7.Marte 3B
8.Green 2B
9.Pitcher
-Rotation-
1.A's ace
2.Vazquez
3.Thomson
4.Horam
5.Millwood
set-up:Cruz (to replace Reitsma)
closer:Smoltz
-you would have too tinker with the excacts(line-up, rotation), but I think it would work for all parties and the Braves would have a hell of a pitching staff.
