Thread: I saw the Phils made a trade.

Default I saw the Phils made a trade.

We got relief pitcher Julio Mateo from the Seattle Mariners for minor league shortstop Jesus Merchan. I see he loves Mariner players, and ex-Mariner players. That makes me think, if ARod does leave, if Gillick may try and get him here. ARod is a former Mariner. If correct, Gillick drafted ARod as well.

Please. No more A-Rod talk. Please wait at least until the season ends.

I only bring it up because he has this thing for Mariner or ex-Mariner players. Hell, I would not be shocked if somehow we see him trade for Ken Griffey Jr, and Randy Johnson, then sign ARod. They were the big three back when Seattle was real good.

Looks like a nothing trade but Merchan was batting .330 and was actually in a bit of a slump. Most of this year, he's been up around .350-.360. Lots of potential....

Merchan was a career minor leaguer, and not likely to fit into our major league roster. Mateo at least gives us an experienced arm.

Gillick did not draft him since he was drafted in the amateur draft in 1996. Gillick probably knew of him and is in contact with the GM of the Mariners, who was probably happy to be rid of Mateo.

As long as he stays out of jail he could really help. He has some nice numbers.

A lot of these spousal cases are settled out of court and for first time offenders, not unlike a certain closing pitcher, the sentence can amount to not much more than community service.

If this is the case, his numbers have been amazing in AAA and could be an asset to the bullpen if he pours himself into the job post-resolution again not unlike Myers last year. I would imagine this is what Gillick's thinking.

A-Rod again? C'mon. For the love of God.

Take a look at his MLB numbers also....they are very good. His beating his wife is despicable but it led to him falling out of favor in Seattle and could be a huge asset for us down the road.

Does ARod have a less talented brother, because he'll end up here

That would be so one sided, we would have to throw in Helms too. And since ARod plays 3rd we do not need Nunez, so we can throw him in too.

What are the chances they land A-Rod?

I think there is a better chance that Eaton gets put in the pen.
