LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Manny Legace (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1241) looks to ruin the Los Angeles Kings' home opener Saturday when the St. Louis Blues (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=stl) head to the Staples Center.
Legace signed as a free agent with the Blues in August after spending the previous six seasons with the Detroit Red Wings (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=det). Last season, he posted a 37-8-0 record with a 2.19 goals against average. His 37 wins placed him fifth in the NHL.
The 33-year-old goaltender suffered a tough 5-4 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=san) on Thursday, despite notching 29 saves. Dan Hinote (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1950), Jamal Mayers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1499) and Lee Stempniak (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=3709) each tallied goals in defeat for St. Louis, which has lost its last nine season openers.
The Anaheim Ducks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=ana) defeated the Kings, 4-3, in Los Angeles' season opener Friday. Chris Kunitz (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=3340) scored midway through the third period and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1514) made 41 saves for the Ducks.
Dan Cloutier (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1532) is the new starting goaltender for Los Angeles, after being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=van) on July 5 for a pair of draft picks. He finished with 28 saves in Friday's loss, surrendering three straight goals to the Ducks between the second and third periods.
