PREDATORS AGREE TO TERMS WITH FORWARD MARTIN ERAT

Nashville, Tenn. (July 24, 2006) – Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has agreed to terms with restricted free-agent forward Martin Erat (mahr-TIHN EE-rat) on a two-year contract. Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Erat, 24 (8/29/81), scored a career-high 20 goals in 2005-06, and matched his career bests in points (20g-29a-49pts) and games played (80). The 2005-06 campaign was the second consecutive 40-point NHL season for the Trebic, Czech Republic native, and he also represented the Czech Republic at both the 2006 Winter Olympics and the 2006 World Championships. In the 2006 NHL playoffs, Erat finished second among team forwards in average ice time per game (19:30).

Originally Nashville's 12th selection, 191st overall (seventh round), in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Erat has recorded 139 points (46g-93a) in 263 career games with the Predators. The versatile forward enters 2006-07 ranked seventh on the franchise's all-time scoring list.
