New York - New York Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has signed unrestricted free agent goaltender Kevin Weekes (http://www.tsn.ca/NHL/player_bio.asp?player_id=1449).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Weekes, 29, appeared in 66 games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season, posting a record of 23-30-11, along with a 2.33 goals against average. He established new career-highs in appearances (66), wins (23), shutouts (6) and goals against average (2.33), while his six shutouts tied for sixth in the NHL and tied a Carolina franchise record.

He is now one of just two goaltenders in NHL history, with a minimum of ten games each season, to improve his goals against average in six consecutive seasons.

Even though the rangers are pretty stocked in the goaltender position this is a good pick up. I wonder where Dunham is going to end up, assuming Blackburn is going to be the back-up.
