With the Pack having only six healthy defensemen, the Rangers might sign Marc Staal and/or Corey Potter to amateur tryout deals. Staal, 19, the Rangers' first-round pick (12th) last year, is in the OHL playoffs with Sudbury. Potter, 22, a fourth-round choice in 2003 who played two years on the U.S. junior national team, is a senior at Michigan State, which was eliminated from the NCAA tournament Sunday in a 5-4 loss to Maine. Wing Greg Moore, who scored the winner into an empty net in the final minute, also could join the Pack after the Frozen Four, which begins next Thursday at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
