Ryan Howard continued his hot hitting, going 9-for-18 this past week. The right-hander blazed through the week for the Phoenix Desert Dogs, on his way to being named Pitcher of the Week for Oct. 11-17. Howard shared the Player of the Week honors with Grand Canyon Rafters outfielder Chris Shelton.

Bucktrot, a third-round pick in the June 2000 First-Year Player Draft, pitched seven innings over two starts and allowed one earned run on eight hits. His performance helped the first-place Desert Dogs to an 8-4 start in the three-team National Division.

The 23-year-old struggled at Double-A this season, going 4-7 with a 4.87 ERA in 20 starts. In 105 1/3 innings, he allowed 140 hits, including 16 homers. He walked 39 and struck out 60. For the Desert Dogs, Bucktrot has logged a total of 10 innings over three starts, giving up just the one run on 10 hits for an 0.90 ERA.

That is nice to see but it is pretty easy for guys with as much pro experience as Howard and Bucktrot to just tear it up in that league....
