I see you're a Cougar fan. Just heard Josh Swogger is done for the season, broken bone in his foot. Alex Brink is now the starter.

Yep I am, and I heard about Swogger. It's a bummer to see any Coug lost for the year, but I think Alex Brink is the guy. I was at Seahawks Stadium for their game against Colorado, and Alex Brink showed a lot of intangibles like Jason Gesser. Plus he's a lot more mobile, which could be a big plus with the way the offensive line has been playing :P

Yeah, I was on Swogger's case all season, but I didn't realize he was as banged up as he was, either.

Not being much of a college fan at all, what will this do to the rest of the WSU season? Is the backup good enough to maybe get them to a bowl game this year?

Well I don't think they'll be returning to the Top 10 again this year, that much is for certain. I do think they have a shot at a bowl game, though. I'm certainly not alone in thinking Alex Brink (new starter) replacing Josh Swogger (old starter) is a step forward for this team. Like I said earlier, Alex Brink has the intangible leadership quality and mobility that Jason Gesser had. Swogger reminds me more of Matt Kegel... a big, slower guy who is real streaky--he has hot/cold stretches--and is prone to throwing picks.
Alex Brink really impressed me when he came in off the bench during the Colorado game. He lead the Cougs to the Buffs' redzone for the tying score, but was stopped at the goalline on a QB scramble as time expired.
With the opportunity to start, Alex Brink could be special, I think.

Did you guys say this Brink kid is a frosh? If so, that sounds like it bodes well for WSU

Brink is a redshirt frosh. Swogger is a soph.

Swogger redshirted too, I think. Yeah, I'm glad Brink is playing, especially as beat-up as Swogger was. What gave CU that game was a Swogger INT returned for a touchdown, wasn't it?

There was a blocked punt for a TD and I do believe there was a Pick 6. The Cougar D held them to 2 fieldgoals, but the defense can't play on offense or special teams! :P

The Huskies can't beat a PAC-10 team.
