I heard his name brought up as a possible pitching coach for us. Sounds good to me.

I believe he is already a pitching coach for Texas, why would he leave them for us unless it was to be manager?

Hey, I'ld love to see it, and I know you are just reporting and I apprecitate that but I think it's doubtful, although I haven't read a story about it.

I would have posted the article, but it's just one of those "grab bag" articles on Phillies.com. You have to read through a bunch of jargon to get to it though so I said to hell with it.

Who is being considered for the pitching coach position?
-- R. Hippenstiel Sourth Jersey product and current Rangers pitching coach Orel Hershiser and Dick Pole, who interviewed for the job before it went to Joe Kerrigan, have been mentioned as possibilities, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. First, the team needs a manager, and that manager will likely be allowed to bring in his own pitching coach.

There ya go ya punk :p

Not really much said but I still thought it was interesting that his name was brought up. I never considered he would be available.

they set a date or anything, about when they will decide who the manager is, do they still have more people to interview?

Man, your guess is as good as mine. From what I heard, their last candidate is still in the playoffs, so they have to wait to interview him until it's over. My guess is it's Willie Randolph, so it may be a little while yet. But with this team....who knows?

Hershiser has family around this area so I could see him making a move to Phila to be the pitching coach. The guy sure helped the Rangers staff this year, I think he would make a hell of an upgrade over Kerrigan.

Good

They could toss in the title of Asst. Coach/Bench Coach along with Pitching Coach just like with Leo Mazzoni (sp?) and Dave Duncan.

When did you hear that? The last comment I heard from Wade said they had no interest in any coach involved in the playoffs at all.

It would be a great addition, but don't see why Texas would let him walk.
