you have it the other way around, the bc player created the contact by driving into williams, who jumped straight up....williams has no need to jump into him, he could easily block the shot or disrupt the layup by going straight up. Thats just how i see it, obviously you see things differently, but all that matters to me is that duke won, not whether one play in a game was a foul or not.

You're right, he didn't get any arm, wrist, or hand.

However, he got a nice helping of his body at the end there. Regardless of whether you love or hate Duke, that is a foul, and it was a pretty cut and dried foul. That's something you have to call, especially in the waning seconds of a close game that could be determined by calls such as that.

you must be in the coach k school of officiating. by that logic any big man could simply wait in the lane for guards to drive and when they get there just jump straight up in the air and knock the shit out of them as long as they don't touch the guy's hand, wrist or arm.

i saw the guy come in and try to clear shelden out with his off hand, creating space for a layup...but instead got knocked back, creating the contact between the two. As a player though you cant expect to get fouls called in the last seconds of a game, refs let alot of calls go in crunch time. In my opinion it is a foul that could have gone either way and it was in the last seconds of the game, this usually equals a no call.

no, as long as he goes straight up and doesnt initiate contact with the other player's body, then it isnt a foul. There was contact but it wasnt initiated by williams, he has a right to go up and contest the shot.

I shouldn't be, but I'm honestly shocked you're defending that. You don't have to say they cost BC the game or anything, but that call was attrocious. Even your PR staff announcing the game called that one out several times. AWFUL. Shocker Dook Edsell was the one making the call, too.

Yuck - what an awful way to end a game.
