MIAMI (AP) - Washington Redskins (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67062) safety Sean Taylor (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/200303) faces up to 46 years in prison after two additional assault charges were filed against him Friday.

Michael Grieco, an assistant state attorney, said the charges reflect Taylor's alleged threatening of three people with a gun in an armed confrontation over an all-terrain vehicle on June 1.
Taylor, 22, now faces three counts of aggravated assault, each of which carries a minimum sentence of three years and a maximum of 15 years in prison. He also faces one misdemeanor battery charge that carries a potential one-year prison term.
Trial is scheduled to begin March 20 for Taylor, a former University of Miami star who signed a seven-year, $18-million contract after being drafted by the Redskins (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67062) in 2004. He has six interceptions and 120 tackles in his two seasons.
Taylor's attorney, Edward Carhart, said the additional charges surprised him.
"The state has had this case since June and now they're filing these added charges? It's bizarre," Carhart said.
Taylor has pleaded not guilty and remains free on $16,500 bond. The Redskins (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67062) lost to the Seattle Seahawks (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67060) two weeks ago in the NFC playoffs. In a playoff victory against Tampa Bay, Taylor was ejected after spitting in the face of Buccaneers (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/67061) running back Michael Pittman (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/70470). Earlier in that game, he ran a fumble back for a touchdown.

I wonder if he is related to Richard Grieco?

I still don't understand why we didn't trade our whole draft for this guy.

There is only so much I can take of Taylor. Undisciplined won't work for long with Gregg Williams, no matter how much talent Williams says he has. Two seperate spitting incidents. Numerous uniform violations. Facing 46 years in prison because he pulled a gun on someone instead of calling cops. Thats not only being undisciplined, but being stupid at the same time. I'm tired of this crap, and I'm being serious in saying, cut him if he continues this in the 2006 season (if he plays at all, that is.)

Sean Taylor is the scum of the Earth. The NFL should ban people like this.

He isn't a person I would invite over for dinner, or associate with, but isn't that statement a little strong? We have rapists in the world, people like Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Ladin, who would butcher and kill their own people, and murderers. What Taylor did, spitting in someone's face, and waving a gun, is terrible, but definately not the magnitude of what so many other people have done.

Sean Taylor gets millions of dollars to play a game and he can't act like a human being. If Sean Taylor were in the position to rape, he would. I wouldn't be surprised to hear he's raped somebody before. Or attempted to murder somebody. Put him in the place of the people you mentioned and Sean Taylor would either be (a) dead or (b) as equally as bad as them.

So, what you're saying is guilty until proven innocent?

I don't like the guy either, he's nothing close to being a class act, but I don't think it's up to the NFL to ban guys of less than topnotch moral/ethical character, especially based on arguments like "well he WOULD rape someone if he had the chance".

Leonard Little is still playing, and he DID kill someone.

Yeah, can't stand Leonard Little either.

Granted, you can't ban people on mere speculation. I guess the justice system needs to be re-worked. But people who committ crimes (and should be convicted), should not be allowed to play in the NFL. Don't other employers fire people for being convicted of crimes?

Allow me to translate:

Sean Taylor gets millions of dollars to play a game and he can't act like a human being.

Mr. Taylor is getting paid good money as an NFL and isn't acting up to NFL standards. With the money he is making, he should be more conscerned about being a role model for all the youth in the DC area and the area he grew up in.

If Sean Taylor were in the position to rape, he would. I wouldn't be surprised to hear he's raped somebody before. Or attempted to murder somebody.

With the reputation some athletes have portrayed in the past, it would appear that Mr. Taylor is has an ego problem and could be just another thug from the streets that made it big. Dispite his spitting lessons from Bill Romanowski, his actions off the field could land him some real jail time trouble.

Put him in the place of the people you mentioned and Sean Taylor would either be (a) dead or (b) as equally as bad as them.

Place him on the streets without the NFL and he would live the thug life and reach his full potential.
