Ray Rhodes is pissing me off!!! The PI said that Miami did a good job against the Pat passing game by blitzing a lot, so why the fuck didn't WE do it more? After getting burned by Bulger in the second half, and putting together a mediocre defensive performance against Brady, isn't it safe to conclude that rushing four a vast majority of the time isn't particularly effective for us?

I wonder about it too. I questioned the defensive calls in the Tampa game, when we stopped blitzing Chris Simms after being very effective with the blitzes of Brad Johnson. Same thing with going to the "prevent" (which only prevents you from winning) against the Rams and again on the 3rd and 7 yesterday late in the game. Maybe Holmgren is telling Rhodes to go to a base or prevent at certain times. Maybe not, since Holmgren knows squat about defense.

I agree. I think we were most effective when we disguised our defense. On the Michael Boulware interception, we showed 7 or 8 man blitz and then dropped 8 into coverage. We didn't pressure Brady very much, but we confused him and let Boulware get enough time to get into position for the pick.
Point is... when we showed blitz and came with it, we usually got burned. I think we have to do a better job of disguising our schemes.
