In the top right corner of posts, you will notice a little blue box with an "X" and a "check mark" in it.

When you click on that box, it askes you if you want to add to that posters reputation, and you can drop a little note that you liked thier post. It also adds points to there reputation, and lets others know that people feel they are a good poster.

Now, we have some VERY good posters in this forum, why not spend a few seconds to let them know we appreciate their knowledge?

This is just one of the many very nice features that this board has, and it may as well be taken advantage of.

PS.....You can also view the reputation comments that YOU have recieved, and see how many points YOU have by clicking the "USER CP" button at the top of our homepage

Thanx Slob

In addition, if someone is trolling or putting up insanely stupid posts, you can give them negative rep, and that will take points away.

I'm with you on that one slobber. Share the wealth a bit. It will help distinguish the football fans from the sociopaths.

The occasional sociopath not always a bad thing, many sociopaths preform daily functions just like the rest of us. I could be one, you could be, we all could be. its the aliens you have to worry about.

I like to think of these boards as equal opportunity and the fact that someone of my level of sanity is one of the most respected posters at this site proves that it is. Swim or Melt.

Cpt etc.: your quote reminds me of what an ex-girlfriend used to tell me: "Don't confuse me with facts."

I am going to sticky this thread so newbies as well as regulars can learn about this innovative feature.

Purple Gorilla just made me aware of another little key to the rep point system. One that I never knew.

When you dish out rep points, you give the amount of points that are equal to your rep power. In other words, if you have a rep power of 5, you will add 5 points to a persons reputation if you reccommend their post.

Sso that explains it. I wondered why a boost from one guy gave me a 10 pt incremental increase, but only a point from soneone else.

Yep, so the more you boost a guys rep, the more points you get back when he reps your post.....

It all comes back one way or another.

I notice however that you can only boost the same guy so often or you get the response that you must "spread some reputation around begore giving it to so and so." I suppose that prevents "good ol' boy" abuse.

Yeah, I'd realized this awhile ago. Which is why you want Sully to like you (with his 25 rep power).

And now you have a 10 RP, Slob! So everyone should get on your good side, too. :)
