NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Nashville Predators (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nsh) lost a key member of their defense corps Friday, when they placed Danny Markov (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1723) on injured reserve with a strained knee.

Acquired from Philadelphia this past summer, Markov suffered the injury in Nashville's 4-3 shootout loss to Atlanta on Wednesday. He is expected to be sidelined for one week.
In 32 games this season, Markov has registered nine assists and 30 penalty minutes. The 29-year-old Russian also is among the team leaders with a plus-7 rating.
A ninth-round pick of Toronto in the 1995 draft, Markov has appeared in 446 career games with the Maple Leafs, Phoenix, Carolina, Philadelphia and Nashville, collecting 25 goals, 104 assists and 365 penalty minutes.
To replace Markov on the roster, the Predators recalled defenseman Shea Weber (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=3387) from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.
Weber, 20, made his NHL debut in Nashville's 3-1 loss to Detroit on January 6. He currently leads AHL rookie defensemen with 22 points in 35 games.

A week isn't too bad, could be worse. I personally like Markov. Hope he recovers quickly and is healthy soon~
