Mark Messier's #11 will be retired tomorrow at the Gaaaden.

He's having a press conference now about it, and he can't say anything without crying. I thought he was a hockey player.

Am I the only one who thinks that ESPN is sincerely regretting not getting the NHL contract?

ESPN probably regrets it, but you have to look at it from a year ago.

I, along with most humans who understand television advertising, saw no reason for ESPN to get the NHL contract for another year because the NHL was just terrible.

From the ratings OLN is getting the answer is no. When the OLN deal is up after next year ESPN will be there if the NHL products is worth putting on TV. ESPN got tired of hearing Bettman tell everyone the game was changing for the good and wanted to see it before forking over 60 million a year.

OLN only plays the Blues so I'd expect for them to have shitty ratings.

OLN is OLN, though. you have to inflate ratings at least 50% to figure what they'd be with ESPN. I catch hockey whenever its on INHD, but if I have to chose between poor broadcast hockey or HD poker, I'm going with Poker, becuase almost anything HD is better than regular broadcast crap.

No joke, everytime I've ever looked to see what game is on OLN, it's the fucking Blues.

I'm watching some poker right now, yeah there's nothing on tv. The commentators are trying to make it exciting, its funny.

Of course, Philly fans have never been considered obnoxious. Just New York and us.

Even though he was a Ranger, I always liked Messier cause he played the game right. A true warrior. Congrats, Mark.

IMO I've always found Boston fans to be quite classy. Its the New Yorkers that are obnoxious. When the Yankees come to town to play the Jays they try to take over the whole city. I'm not saying all of them, but so many of them are terribly rude and ignorant.

I'm going to be in shit for that comment! :)
