There is hope for next year, though. He was only 53 votes short of the HOF.

Jim Rice is never gonna make it in. That sucks, I think he deserves it

Indeed, with next year's class of Ripken Jr., Gwynn, and possibly McGwire, he doesn't stand a chance. For Shame.

Tim Kurkjian on E$PN said that Rice's best chance to get in would be 2008. Rice, growing up, was my favorite player, but I just don't think he'll get enough support from the writers.
I'm sure Peter Gammons voted for him. :p

Wow...next year's class is really good. I didn't know it was that good

Is he still eligible in 2008? What is it, 15 years of eligibility from after you retire?

I really don't know, I was just repeating what I heard Kurkjian say.

IF Rice doesn't make it on the writers vote, I'm certain he'll make it in on the vet's committee. Unfortunately, that'll be a while, but better late than never!

You are allowed to stay in for I believe 15 years as long as you reach a certain % of votes....I want to say 50 but I'm not sure....I believe Rice has 3 more years if he gets enough votes and then he could still be voted in by a different committee after that

Yeah, I heard them talking about that tonight on "Red Sox This Week"
