Thrashers Reassign Forward Karl Stewart to Chicago (AHL) and Goaltender Adam Berkhoel to Gwinnett (ECHL)ATLANTA (Dec. 24, 2005) -- The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned forward Karl Stewart to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, and goaltender Adam Berkhoel to the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. The team's active roster now stands at 20, with an additional four players on Injured Reserve.

Stewart, 22, was scoreless in two games with Atlanta following his recall on Thursday. The 5-10, 180-pound left wing shares eighth on the Wolves with 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in 24 games this season. He ranks fourth on the club in goals, and shares the team lead with two short-handed tallies. The native of Aurora, Ontario, has one assist in seven career games with Atlanta, and 102 points (49 goals, 53 assists) in 247 AHL games with Chicago from 2003-05. Stewart signed with Atlanta as an unrestricted free agent on Sept. 28, 2001.

Berkhoel, who has been recalled by Atlanta five times this season, including Thursday from Gwinnett, posted 23 saves in Gwinnett's 4-3 loss at Augusta on Tuesday night. The 5-11, 185-pound goaltender has posted a 2-4 record and a 4.08 goals-against average in eight appearances with the Thrashers and a 1-2-0 record, a 3.02 GAA and a .922 save percentage in three games with Chicago (AHL) this season. The native of Woodbury, Minn., appeared in 24 games with Gwinnett during the 2004-05 season, earning a 9-10-5 record and a 2.43 GAA.
