ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - Jeremy Roenick (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=4) and the slumping Los Angeles Kings (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=los) hope to rebound from a tough loss when they visit the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Friday in a Pacific Division showdown.
Since posting a 6-3 triumph over the St. Louis Blues (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=stl) on November 22, the Kings have dropped seven of their last 10 games to fall behind the Dallas Stars (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=dal) in the division standings.
Los Angeles carried a one-goal lead into the third period Wednesday but ended up losing a 3-2 decision to the lowly Washington Capitals (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=was).
Sean Avery (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=2749) and Eric Belanger (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=2471) tallied for the Kings, who allowed both a shorthanded and a power-play goal in the third period.
Roenick has struggled in his first season with Los Angeles, recording just five goals and 11 points in 29 games. The nine-time All-Star has failed to record a point in his last six games and has just one goal and three assists in his last 12 contests.
Anaheim is coming off an impressive 4-2 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=tam).
Defenseman Francois Beauchemin (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=3203) collected a goal and two assists and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1514) stopped 22 shots for the Mighty Ducks, who went 2-for-4 on the power play in the second and third periods.
