Not big on excellent defensive players, eh?

I disagree
He's got some pop, hit 23 homers in 2004.
Last year he hit 8th for the Marlins, a reason for his numbers being bad.
He averaged a .975 FLD%, 20 points higher than Edgar (granted Edgar was terrible last season)

Gonzalez and Castillo were one of the slickest double play combos I've ever seen.

Yes they were.
It's going to be so different watching them this year without Pierre and Castillo at the top of the lineup. Seemed like those pesky bastards were always on base.

I was going to say I'm excited to see Hanley Rameriz and Hermida play this year(and possibly Gathright if that trade goes through), but I pretty sure there will be even fewer Marlin games available for me to watch this season.

I don't like that Gonzalez, he strikes out too much, doesn't walk and overall is a downgrade from Renteria offensively, even from Edgar's #'s last year. Get Lugo.

40 days later, and I feel the same way. Get Lugo.

But for what? Tampa is a bunch of fucking idiots.
A-Gon is better than Cora, period.

Looks like the A-Gonz deal is pretty much done. Definitely not upset about this though. He wont do much offensively, but if I had to deal with another 30 errors from the ss position I would have to shoot myself.

Yeah, I am ok with A-Gon.
1 year stop gap to Lugo/Pedroia.
Book it.

Not only is it a one year stop gap, if Pedroia shines in spring training they can cut A-Gon before opening day without having the whole year guaranteed.

I wouldn't bank on that.
Pedroia can probably field at the major league level.....but can't hit yet. Especially after the wrist injury.
I'm guessing he gets no more than 200 MLB ABs. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets less than 75.

I'm happy with this deal. Especially for the money. I think AGon will be a .265 hitter at Fenway and be good for 14 HRs and 75 RBIs.
Best part is he'll have about 18 less errors than Erroria.
