Post all news about the Boston Red Sox offseason in here

To recap so far:

Added:
SP Josh Beckett
3B Mike Lowell
RP Gulliermo Mota
2B Mark Loretta
3B Andy Marte

Re-Signed
RP Mike Timlin

Lost:
C Doug Mirabelli
3B Bill Mueller
1B Kevin Millar
SS Edgar Renteria
and about 5 of 6 prospects

Oh and Manny and Damon are still up in the air and we have no GM.

Lastest I heard was that we were going after Alex Gonzalez (Fla) if we couldn't get Julio Lugo away from the D-Rays. Also with the news that Miggy wants out of Baltimore, we may try and get him for Manny. I doubt it, though. Trades like that don't happen between division rivals very often.

I would also note that you got rid of Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez...the top 2 prospects in the organization

I'd be more interested in a Manny/Abreu deal. I don't know who would fill in at SS, but I like Abreu's skills more than I like Miggy.

I certainly wouldnt fill SS in with Gonzales or Lugo(fuck that wifebeater). I think a Lowell/Youkilis trade looks more appealing with the pickup of Marte.

Yea..he said "5 or 6 prospects" while alot of people take to mean crappy players just included in deals for no reason

While I agree that Hanley ramirez was a top prospect, that Sanchez guy isn't even in the top 10. That's why he was included in the Beckett deal, we didn't want to give up Jon Lester, the lefty down at AA.

Anibal will be a player. Book it.

Nah. This guy smacks of Brian Rose or Juan Pena to me.

I like what I've seen of him in Portland last year. I've made a couple posts around here about why I like him and such, but I'm too damn lazy to find them.

Hey Papi-Tek, don't write off a Manny-Tejada trade so quickly. Since I an old war horse I can remember that big trade after the 1959 season when Cleveland and Detroit made that big swap. The Indians sent home run king Rocky Colavito to the Tigers while Detroit gave Cleveland batting champion Harvey Kuenn. These types of trades to happen so I am not writing this possibility off just yet.

Fair enough, I'm just saying it's not likely considering we play each other 19 times a year now.

Now there's talk of bringing Nomar back here.

Papi, please don't tell me you want Nomar back. Please!!! I once loved the guy but his sad and sorry act during that 2004 series with the Yankees when he sat in the dugout with his sour puss while his teammates were cheering their team just turned me off. I also think it would best for Nomar to go elsewhere and get off to a fresh start, but, then again, that is just my opinion.

I agree with you SeaBF, I was just reporting it.

Anyway it's moot now since he's officially a Dodger.

Johnny Damon rejects arbitration, meaning we now have 2 weeks or so to sign him or else.

Tony "Buckner" Graffanino accepts it, meaning unless traded he will be a Red Sox next season.

John Flaherty signs a one-year deal for 650,000.

Interesting rumor: Manny and Clement for Tejada.

Red Sox signed INF/OF Willie Harris to a minor league deal today.

Good move, he could potentially be a nice fill in with speed.
