Another close one with a few questions raised about non pre-registered voters: Ima, BambinoBear, and godess.

Guess we'll see what happens. Again, lets get some more votes and break the tie!

Bambinobear should count. He's a level-headed good guy, and he's not voting with any bias whatsoever.

goddess and ima should have their votes thrown out.

I was thinking yes for Bambino and goddess...I've never seen her cause any problems, and she does talk a lot of baseball.

Ima is fiesty (as he'll admit)...and I cant say I've seen him talk a lot of baseball. That said, he has been around here for a while.

Just curious...what your case is against these 2?

Ima has a tendancy to be spiteful. I don't think he can be trusted to vote without bias.

I really have no case against goddess in regard to her knowledge of the Phillies and our posters. allow her if you wish. ima should be disallowed.

you're spiteful. that's all good and well, just not in a situation like this. this tourney need not be decided by a biased vote of a non-phillies fan.

but we can hump later, if you'd like.

With quite a few close matchups, I'd rather see them decided by people who are more interactive with the Phils board.

Not angry at all. I have no reason to be, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. Also, my opinion that you are spiteful in nature has nothing to do with me...i've seen you be spiteful toward others. You allow personal problems to cloud your ability to be objective. We don't need that here.

Let me just throw this out there before the voting is over so I dont look like I'm lobbying one way or the other in order to influence the outcome of my contest:

How can one or two people be looked upon to determine who the non-regular posters are that should be counted v. those who shouldnt? Everyone should either be counted or they shouldnt IMO

Basically, we're just looking for the people who talk a decent amount here w/the Phils posters. Posters like Pitpen, manny, preds, etc. I had wanted to get a list together ahead of time, but it didnt work out so well.

I understand what you're saying entirely. Unfortunately, there is going to be flaws in this tourney, especially since it was put together fairly quickly. I am guarenteeing a much better process next year.

As the process goes on, I'm starting to wonder if we should just eliminate all outside posters for this year.

It's just too complicated right now, as there are more and more voters showing up.

Again, I'll leave it open for a brief discussion before a decision is made.

If it were up to me, I would allow all votes to count. In the end, how can we honestly gauge who may come over here to read some posts every now and then even if they dont post v. those who never come over here at all. Trying to keep someone from voting is entirely too subjective. The only objective way to do it is to allow this to be open to all and living with the results.

In reality, there are only a few non-regulars who have even voted. And, imo, most, if not all of those, are regular s-b posters who i've seen here before at least a few times.

Fuck it Jay. Open it up for all. Honestly. The biased, ill-educated voters will be overshadowed by voters that have objectivity.

Pretend I never said anything about this matter except above. It really is too difficult, and slightly mean, to say who can vote and who cannot.

I disagree that everyone should vote.

We started the thing as a battle for phillies fans.

We know that most non-phillies fans know jack-shit about a lot of the phillies fans and it is simply unfair to open it to every voter. Certainly, people that go over to many other boards will have a much higher chance of winning although they may be a huge prick of a phillies fan.

Of course, there are people that know a lot about the phillies posters that are not having their vote counted. But look what happened last year -- people going to other boards and begging for votes from other teams' fans. That's pretty pathetic and I'd like to see that avoided this year.

At the same time, it sucks that certain people will not have their voice heard, but there was a time where we could nominate people to vote and those people were not nominated.

My opinion:

Restrict it to only phillies fans,

OR

Just accept the people who were pre-approved.

*Sidenote: I'm sorry if I'm taking some of your posts out of context as I didn't read everything in the thread.

*Additional sidenote: I don't want to get too up-in-arms about this. But last year got a bit ridiculous and HLICU got dicked over because we let everyone vote; it was totally unfair.

*Third sidenote: JayGlo is running the thing. It's up to him. I just don't want to see a repeat of last year.

They're my thoughts exactly, mo'. Unfortunately, my anxiousness to get this thing out and going at a time where it would not conflict with Newt's GM game, exams for many of us, and the Christmas holidays, as well as a potential S-B wide tourney, it was just not possible to make this thing perfect.

Next year, I have every intention of making this as flawless as possible.

I think it's still entertaining though. Some of the match-ups have been good.

This year, it was one of those things:

"Hey, why don't we do a BOTPP?"

"Ok, let's do it."

And then you were rushed to set things up because of the factors you mentioned. I understand totally and I think the thing is going well as it is.

You live and learn -- I think what you've done, with the resources and time available has been pretty damn good. The first NFL-AFL championship had it's problems. But look what the Superbowl has turned into now.

That might be a bad analogy, but whatever. Things are going fine, imo.

Rumor is this: JRoll went around and asked a bunch of people (who were otherwise indifferent to the BOTPP) to vote for him. He was uncovered as fixing the vote but still did not win (there was a tie). It went to a tie-breaker. JRoll was running the thing and I believe he might have even held the poll open longer / shorter than it was supposed to be so that he could beat out HLICU.

In the next round, I believe he was destroyed by abreu. But I'm not sure.

In seriousness, he wasn't even considered in this since he hasn't posted here in 2 months (at least, I assume). And after last year and what happened a few months ago, I'm not sure he would have gotten very far, anyway.
