Alright guys and gals...here's what we're gonna do.

Sign up in this thread if you would like to participate in the Second Annual Battle of the Phils Posters.

I will leave the signup open for 48 hours. Anyone with over 100 posts on the Phils board will automatically be entered in, though I would request you to signup in the thread if possible to make matters easier. Also, only users active within the past month will be considered.

Each poster will be ranked based on the number of posts on the Phils board. A NCAA-style tournament will be set up, though likely only with two brackets instead of four, unless the board has grown more than I have realized.

Voting will be a 48 hour period, and votes will only be counted from Phillies posters/fans.

Any questions can be directed to me, and I will be glad to answer. Suggestions are welcome as well. I would prefer this thread be kept for signups only, though, just to keep things organized. The thread started by Moses can be used for suggestions.

It's a "Battle of the Phillies Posters" tournament in which every poster that is a Phils fan is seeded and placed in a bracket, and all of S-B is able to vote who they feel is the better poster of each "matchup".

It can be a pretty fun thing to do, and it gives Phils fans something to BS about in the off season. Some people will make it a bigger deal than necessary, some people will cause a scene when they feel they got the shaft, and some matchups WILL be strictly a popularity contest, and people won't vote objectively all the time.

If you can clear all that BS away, it's a fun thing.

if they do it the way the S-B wide one was done, then the participants can not lobby for votes, or even post links to the vote, as that's what got me DQ'd in the first one that "inspired" Jroll to do the first one of these.

You really don't do anything at all. I mean, when your matchup is being voted on, you can kiss all kinds of ass if you'd like, but beyond that you have no control. It gets a little hairy because anyone on S-B can vote, so a lot of very good Phils posters that don't venture to other boards get snubbed a lot because fans of other teams and sports will vote for who they know/recognize...and I have no idea how to fix that leak in the system.

Like I said, other than a few inevitable problems that these tournaments have, they're fun if done in moderation. It's been awhile since this has been done, so I think it'll be good. JRoll isn't here anymore to overkill it.

Actually, you're misinformed. The S-B tourney had been done for quite some time, and I thought it'd be coo to have one for just the Eagle's board. it depends on who you are up against, some get a positive light throughout the board, others get negative light. There is a lot of voting against someone rather than voting for the person they actually vote for.

Good poiint, because that IS the case a lot. If you're up against someone that has generated hostility and/or made enemies around S-B, people will vote for you out of spite for the other guy. And there's plenty of Phils posters that have enemies. That's what makes this shit so interesting.

I would like to include manny, preds, etc. But I feel like we either need a pre-set list, or some kind of pre-set standard (must meet a min. post count and rep points level?)

If you guys like that idea, what would be a legit level for each section?

I would prefer to keep it to people who talk baseball though, as someone who is only a football fan would kind of defeat the purpose of this tourney.

As much as I understand what you're saying (I've had my spats w/posters on here as well)...that's part of the way this thing works.

For instance...if JoePa pissed off a certain coach or media member, he can't discount their votes in the poles because of a bias...that's just the way it works.

That was my original intent...to base it solely on # of posts on the Phils board.

However you can't find out past 500 posts how many one person has on one board.

I know a lot of us have more than that...much more.

That's why I'm using the method YOM suggested to me that he used for the Eagles board tourney.
