According to The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton, Kansas City Royals owner David Glass is not receptive to an idea pitched by the NFL Kansas City Chiefs that would add a retractable roof over both Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadium. "Any money we have available needs to be directed toward making the team better," he said. "Not toward bricks and mortar. If there's private funding available for the project, that's fine. But we need to put our resources into building a better team on the field."

Does it honestly make a difference how the Kauffman stadium looks? They are going to lose there anyway.

yes because its getting dangerous and changes need to happen.
Kauffman is one of the nicest looking parks in baseball. Why the hell would they want to put a roof over it ?

The NFL awarded a SB to KC on the condition that a roof was put on Arrowhead.
Kauffman is right next to Arrowhead so the city has been trying to push a roof on wheels that could be used for either stadium

They want something that can wheel between both of these.

It would be a bi-state tax but the people in KCK bitch about the people in KCMO getting all the money and the people in KCMO bitch about the people in STL getting all the money.
Its a mess.
And now some of the officials are trying to get Kauffman to move downtown next to the Sprint Arena that will be built in 2007.

I think it would be a travesty if they were to put a roof on Arrowhead. I have been there, and I can say it is definitely a great stadium with lots of history having taken place on the field.

I used to go there once a year but I havent been down since 98. I do go to Royals game at least 3-4 times a month.
Its a good stadium but the fact is this town blows and things need to change quickly. If putting a roof on brings in money and other events so be it.

Don't forget they can play in rain and other stuff.
Only in KC would they think of something that stupid (ruin a good stadium in order to placate another pro sport). That roof will cost so much and the benefit will not be nearly that much.

I would like to see a design drawing of this roof on wheels.
I'd also see the mechanism that they plan of moving it back and forth with.

You guys really have no idea what's going on here.
This town is falling apart due to bad decisions with money, investments and contsruction.
As far as the roof goes Zero, its not just a benefit for the Cheifs, it can be used for numerous things besides sports.
