Tkachuk placed on seven-day injured reserve

The Blues placed left winger Keith Tkachuk on the seven-day injured-reserve list today.
Tkachuk has not skated since Monday, two days after catching the butt end of his stick in the stomach. His practice Monday lasted only 37 minutes before tenderness in the midsection forced him off the ice. He said Wednesday that the area remains tender.
"It's a tough injury to deal with," Tkachuk said. "Everything revolves around that part of the body. You're using it quite a lot. Hopefully I'll get better in a couple of days and be ready to go Monday or Tuesday."
Tkachuk missed Wednesday's 3-2 win over Anaheim, and now on IR, he will be out at least through Saturday's game against Minnesota at Savvis Center. It's possible he could return for Tuesday's game at Phoenix.
Defenseman Matt Walker was taken off IR on Thursday and will play tonight against Nashville. He sat out the last five games because of a bone bruise in his right foot, which he injured in the season opener at Detroit.
