I was at the open public scrimmage on Thursday at the Bradley Center and saw something I didn't really like. I don't remember now the name of the player, but somebody was issued jersey #34. That kind of saddened me because I loved Ray Allen playing for Milwaukee. If this player were to remain on the roster, I'd be disappointed to see him play in Ray Allen's jersey. Couldn't he have been issued a different number. I know Allen didn't win a championship for Milwaukee, but I feel he deserves at least not using his number. Just my opinion.

I agree. Ray is 34 and until some amazing player wants it, it should go unused.

You know... I'm kinda sick of "Ray Allen was a god" talk that I hear. It's like saying "Lyle Overbay shouldn't wear #11." Big freakin deal if he did - if someone else wants it, they should have it. BUT - they should bust their asses off because they KNOW they'll be compared to Ray.

Agree with Don on this one. I loved Ray Allen, but I dont think he deserves to have his number retired thus I think if somebody wants it...more power to them. Same with #13 which Big Dog wore for years, it will look funny, but I think if somebody wants it and they have no intention of retiring it...its fair game. Both Ray-Ray and Big Dog were solid Milwaukee Bucks, but not gods or # retired worthy. Of the two, I think Big Dog could make a better case b/c of his stats...its the intangables that bring him down and I was a huge Dog fan, but I have to be realistic.

I never ment like no body can have it but like no loser should have it. Lyle is still pretty decent so that was a bad comparison.

I liked Ray Allen as a player, as well. However, at the end of his tenure with the Bucks, his attitude towards George Karl was somewhat on the prima donna side of things.
That's not to say that Karl wasn't at fault, as well. His act has gotten tired after 3 or 4 years in every city he's coached in. And I am sure that Karl's idiosyncracies rubbed Allen, Robinson, Thomas and Cassell the wrong way.
But out of those four, Allen was the one I least expected to act like the other three.
Who knows? Allen may be back next year. He has no desire to stay in Seattle when he's a free agent.
That's from a column in 10/19/2004 editionof the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinal.

I dont think the Bucks can afford Ray Allen again, but it is rumored he does miss Milwaukee Milwaukee. Also, I read today that the Bucks are going to do everything possible to sign Michael Redd and build around him.
I also wanted to note that I do see #34 is being used, but also that #13 is also in use for the first time since Big Dog wore it. I believe Mike James has #13...I also thinks this ends any of the "minor" speculation that Glenn might have his # retired by Milwaukee.
