I think he's going to be an excellent relief pitcher, someday.
But, today, he's actually having a pretty solid start. 2 hits through 6 IP, plus 2 BBs and 1 HB against 3 Ks.
And the offense has scored a run in every inning but the second, so far.

It is also nice that Haren has pitched 6 innigns and counting (79 pitches so far.) If he had only gone 5 innings, it could have really made for a short pen tonight.

Is he our future version of ramiro mendoza? spot starts, long relief and power arm when it counts? (obviously mendoza's career went downhill after he left the spankees)

I think Haren has the potential to be a lot better than Mendoza in relief. I just don't think he has more than 100 innings in him for a season. Make him a closer, and he could be dominant.

man i'd settle for mendoza the way he was for 3-4 years with the yankees.... that type of swing man is soooo valuable and nice. or even a danny graves (only better) type closer who can go out and throw 100 innings.
you can't argue with those types of plaeyrs they're just too handy.
