Jose Vidro was removed from the DL today after completeing a rehab stint at Class A where he served as DH and 2nd baseman. Now, let the 2nd base debate begin. Who should it be at 2nd, and what should be done with the other one? Keep in mind that a platoon really isn't an option at least theoritically because Vidro is a switch hitter. I say use Spivey until Vidro is back to full strength, then explore the options.
If i knew that either Spivey or Vidro could play SS I'd say bench Guzman till he can figure out his batting woes. Or if either of them can manage 1st base then we'd have a stop gap till Nick J can return. Once everyone returns it'll probably go like this. Johnson, Vidro, Guzman, and Castilla. With Carroll getting an occational start to spell Vidro/Guzman/Castilla. what to do with Spivey then? Maybe someone turns into trade bait.
Spivey is out for 6-8 weeks. I guess our surplus is taking care of themselves. If theres any method to the madness i expect Jamey Caroll to go on the DL when Guzman and spivey return.
