View Full Version : Warning - Tonight's Game

Just to give you guys a fair warning, I'm going to tonights game.
Why is that a problem? I've been to 7 games this season. In those games, the Cardinals are 2-5. In one of the two wins, I actually left the game an hour and a half into a rain delay, so I only saw about 2 innings of play. The game resumed after I left, so I didn't actually see the win.
So yes - I've been to 6% of the games this year, but have seen 12.5% of the losses. A team with a .661 winning percentage plays .286 ball when I'm in the stadium. Busch, Miller, Wrigley - makes no difference to me.
I'm seeing Woody Williams start for the 5th time this year. Yes, I was at his last loss on June 8th in Chicago.
Chris Carpenter went 4-1 against the Cubs this year. That one loss? Of course I was there.
I'm hoping my effect on the team starts getting better before the playoffs. If it doesn't, I might be afraid to even try to get tickets.

PuxicoRG:
Are you saying then that 5 games we have lost this year is because of you being at the said games?
How is your won-lost record at watching them play on TV?
Are we going to find that all of the Cards lost games are because you watched them on TV?
If any of the above is true, I for one wish you would just read about them the next day in the paper or have someone besides yourself copy the games on tape and you see them later, much later. :D

My powers only seem to be in effect in person. I watched parts of the last 3 games, for example, with no ill effects noted.
By the way, I do accept money for those wishing to keep me away from the stadium in October.
Pux, you might break your heavy losing percentage and start a personal winning streak by doing something radical at the game tonight...for example, run onto the field and approach Matheny and tell him that you think he does a great job at calling the game and handling his pitchers...

True. I could even bring him a present - say, a shiny new hunting knife? (I'm sure security would have no problems with me charging onto the field with a knife...)

You and me both, pal. I started going bald at the ripe old age of 19. I'm now 32, and I don't have much left at all. (I want to shave my head, but my wife won't let me. She uses Larry Walker as an example of why.)

Pux... I was at the one of the Cardinal's 2 losses to Cincy.
We are 11-2 against them... I was in Cincy for a loss.
I was also at the loss to the Marlins on Scott Rolen bat day.

Why am I not surprised that Eleven and I have similar luck?

Sadly, those are the only 2 Cards games I've been to this year.
I'm savin up for the post-season! ;-)

I've been a Cardinal fan as long as I can remember. Interestingly enough, this is the first season of my life that I've lived in the St. Louis area. (I grew up 175 miles away, went to college 100 miles away, and lived 280 miles away after college.) Due to the proximity, I've enjoyed being able to go to more games, watch more games, and get information easier on the team. (The whole reason I started posting on ESPN's boards was to get more Cards information than I could otherwise in Chicago.)

RG,
You need to pass along those free tix next time. It's someone's way of saying that you shouldn't have those tickets. :D
