View Full Version : Are we better on offense?

Looks like Tucker and even Columbo are getting alot closer to returning and with Quinn (A QB who knows this offense very well) we could actually be alot more efficient on offense. Our D is still in shambles but I havent given up on this team and firmly believe that our offense will be better with Quinn at the controls. Grossman looked pretty decent but it was clear that he didnt have the playbook down yet. He should benefit from this injury also and come back next year and lead us back to the playoffs.

We'll be getting U and zoom back on defense perhaps the game after the bye and tillman a little after that. If Quinn can do well on offense, it won't be as doomsday as I predicted. I just have never seen quinn, and going by his 7 year backup status it doesn't seem like he has what it takes to be adequate. But here's hopin. Because contrary to what i said before, I am going to watch the rest of the games this year.

Mofo just think of Rich Gannon when you look at Quinns 7 year backup role. When Gannon stepped in for the Chiefs he knew the playbook as good as anyone and it showed. I'm not sure how long he was a backup but it was a while. Shea has even commented that Quinn has read the defenses better than the guys in the booth from the sidelines!! So even if his arm is so so he did run a 4.58 40 at the combines coming out of Middle Tennessee State so he's not too slow.

I'm still worried about our receivers. Now more than ever we need to think about that A Train for Keenan trade.

Keenan would be nice to have but I dont want to give a long term contract to a nearly 35 year old WR. Maybe a 3 year deal but even that could bite us in the ass, depending on the $$$$.

If Columbo and Tucker are coming back soon, now might be a good time to move Gibson for a draft pick. As far as offense the rest of the year, Quinn should be ok. I would like to see Terrell and Gage more involved.

Isnt Gibson injured? If not he might be decent trade bait for a late draft pick.

Keenan would help, but if this is a transition season would we be better served taking our lumps with Terrell,Wade and Gage?

I agree UB, these young WR's need some PT and hopefully a few of them turn out to be pretty decent.

why exactly are you worried about the recievers? Except for the dissaperance of gage, I would be worried about the catches the tight ends are getting. all together they have just over half the amount TJ has (8 to 15). I would like to see johnson get involved a bit more or tj and train in the backfield for passing situations.

I'm worried about the WR because terrell sucks and gage has made one catch this season as far as i know. maybe if our recievers could get separation rex wouldn't have had to run around like a chicken with his head cut off half of the passing plays.

Dirk I would love to see Johnson more involved, he's terror on opposing LB's and DB's. He hits like a truck.

Koza is right, our WR's dont know the meaning of "breaking off a route" and returning to the ball to help the QB.

i am a lil worried about our WR's too. i would like to see where this offense went w/ Quinn at the helm though. hopefully the ball will get spread around a lil more (i.e. TE's too).

Hayden, Quinn should be able to spread it around a little more by knowing the offense better. We will see.

If the offense could get more mileage out of Clark that would be great. Clark had that one big year in Denver but not much since, I was expecting more out of him. As for the receivers, I think Angelo needs to see as much of them as possible. It will be interesting to see if Quinn's command of the system translates into a more balanced attack.

I'm not going to argue that all the recievers and backs needed to help more bny breaking off a route and heading back. I just dont think that bringing in keenan and sitting these kids is going to help that much, if any at all.

i hope so. i know it was only preseason but he did very well when called upon. i am not banking much on those incomplete passes at the end of the Vikings game. i mean yeah.. i wish he would have capitalized but i'll give him a few more chances.

what about ole Hutchinson? we finally got him.

I agree Dirk with not bringing in Keenan but I agree also with Koza about the poor play of our WR's.

mcCardell isn't worth it righ tnow, unless you signed him long term, but im guessing he's 34 y/o right now... ill have to admit we arent a superbowl caliber team right now.. aquiring him doesnt amke sense

First post on the new board. And can't believe I just read a dozen or more football-related comments without a troll jumping in. Is it really always like this?

I agree with the "give the youngsters a shot" school. McCardell will be ready to retire just as we are getting into dynasty mode.

Yes brant. And the administrators are all regular posters who were sick of the shit on the espn board. Also, I like to see the word shit. But if you don't, you can turn on or off the editing of those words.

And good to see ya over here. Bring the rest.

Yes it is always like this, football talk all the time (in most cases). Trolling not allowed. People are always allowed on other boards as long as they dont bait them into crap.

I have always been a fan of letting the youngsters play. Without them, teams end up in the same situation as the raiders have been in, all old veterans with no young to take their spot. Look to the future.

have we even used a trick play this season?????

brantcruz50

I think all those passes beyond the line of scrimmage may be considered "trick plays" by any DC who was used to scheming against Shoop.

the punt reverse that gage tackled himself on?
