The Star-Ledger reports the New York Jets are still working with New Jersey officials to extend their lease at Giants (http://www.kffl.com/team/26/nfl) Stadium. Carl Goldberg, chairman of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, said he was confident a deal to extend the Jets (http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl) lease beyond 2008 could be reached as early as next week. According to people with knowledge of the talks, the Jets (http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl) are balking at signing a deal because the state is demanding the team approve the Giants' plan to build a new $750 million stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex. Goldberg said the state made it clear yesterday the Jets (http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl) are welcome in New Jersey for as long as they want to remain. Late Friday, May 27, Jets (http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl) spokesman Matt Higgins said, "We had a productive meeting and we're confident the remaining issues will soon be resolved."
