Targeted for contraction in 2002, the Minnesota Twins have instead won three consecutive AL Central titles. No wonder the Twins' celebration was so much fun.
"Every year we've got to go out there and prove to somebody. But you know what? I like it," center fielder Torii Hunter said. "We're the underdogs, and we've got something to prove every day. That's our motivation, to go out there and prove people wrong."
Ron Gardenhire is the first AL manager to win division titles in his first three seasons with a team since Dick Williams with Oakland in 1971-73.
Now the Twins, led by ace Johan Santana, have to do it in the playoffs, where they lost in the ALCS in 2002 and the first round last season.
