It seems like the Twins are treating these last few games as throw-away, meaningless games. Don't they want home-field in the divisional playoffs?

Not as much as they want to get their guys healthy and rested and get some role players some at-bats to get their timing down before the playoffs.
the metrodome is certainly a home field advantage...however one must recall that the past two world series champions both got into the playoffs as wild-cards...meaning at least the first two series were on the road (anaheim had home field in the w.s. against san fran, florida was the road team all three series). along with that, i think there common feeling is that boston may be the most feared team in the american league. if so, opening at new york wouldn't be terrible. anything can happen in the playoffs, home field isn't as much of an advantage as it is in football.
and like gorilla said, i'd rather go in with our starters as healthy as possible.
