I thought we would start a little thread that could outline all the features of our new board, by giving input as to what our favorite feartures are. This will be a good way to help some of the newbies see what they have available to them in this forum.
For instance, my favorite feature is being able to see who is on the board at any givin time. All you have to do is scroll down on our main page, and at the bottom it lists everybody that is on. Also, if you ckick the names of each person, it tells what they are doing at that time. If you click Scib, it may say that he is viewing the thread "roy, roy, roy". If you click Big Dummie, it may say that he is responding to the thread "reputation points". Or maybe Oldcat is on, and when you click his name it may say that he is creating a thread in the lions forum. (of course, it wont tell you if its one of his long winded posts, or a short and to the point one).
To me, its nice to be able to see who is on, and what has caught there interest.

I like that you can preview your post before you post it.

theres alot of things i like about the board, but my favorite feature is the ability to see the 5 newest posts on the main board so you know what topics are active. Hey slob, u wanna move this thread over to off-topic?

That would be fine with me, as long as a copy of it stays on this board. We had a major influx of new posters on this board, so I would like for them to see what they have available to them right away.

ahh i understand.... do u know how do that thing sully does with the gameday threads, where it says "moved" on the lions board then links it to the off topic? If you do, that would work perfectly, otherwise its just fine where it is. I didnt catch on that it was more for the lion newbies than anything, my bad

Actually, it is for anybody that can gain something from it. I just wanted to make sure a copy stayed here so the new guys could see it. It seems that folks stay closer to home when they first start posting.
I will look to see if I can figure out how to move the thread like you said. I'm not really sure if I have that capability as a Moderator. In any case, If I know Sully, he will move it before I figure it out anyways...lol

I'll do it if I see it hasn't been done yet...BTW, Slob, the option to do that is in the thread tools button at the top of the post. If you pust that button and don't see "move/copy thread" then I guess you can't do it. If you can see that, then you have the power to do it.

I would have to say the atmosphere. People just seem to be more at ease with what and how they post. And the contents within the posts on this board are better to.

No doubt. Its nice to know that you wont be ridiculed for speaking your opinion. We really do have a great group of people on this board.

I hear ya... People seem to open up more on this board. I have added people to my must read list since coming to this board.

I love posting that I'm please with how Kevin Jones looked and not have some guy with the handle "Kjones=Darko" posting that I'm an idiot with a "Bwahahaha" somewhere in the middle. Yet despite this rampant homerdom hasn't emerged yet, just a group of fans talking about htier team and sharing things they've found on line so I don't have to spend all day searching for them.
And I like the arcade.....Haven't had time to bust everyones skulls yet, but I'm the Atari 2600 master. One button baby.

I like the arcade, though that Bowling game is the spawn of hell.
I actually didn't know about clicking on a user from the main page to see what they're doing. Thanks for the tip on that, Slob!
My favorite function so far is probably the "Active Topics' link, which I use more than the last five from the main page. Usually when I get here, I drop ten or twenty posts in an hour, and I use the Active Topics to see what I've missed since I was here last. Sometimes it's tons of stuff.
My favorite atmosphere benefit? The fact that people with obvious allegiances to other teams (or even other sports) drop in, check out what your thread has to say, and chime in their two cents without coming off like a total jackass or a confrontational bastard.
I've only seen a couple instances of DRAMA here, and one of those was about avatars, not content.
The best thing is the free-wheeling exchange of opinions and ideas, and the constructive conversation that happens here.
Sports-Boards = All the fun + All the info - All the bullshit.

I found a feature here that I wasn't even aware of before. When you're viewing a forum, take a look at the number of replies. Click on that number, and you can see how many times each user has posted in a thread.
Now that's some cool shit.

I like the fact that every day I seem to learn more and more fun things that we have access to. When I win the lottery I will hook up the site with some love, for now all i have is rep to sully and the admins/super

I like that I can write "long-winded" posts here and people just make fun of me rather than give me shit about it.
Sometimes I just have to get things off my chest, and unfortunately for those who dislike reading long posts....I'm a rather "detail oriented" kind of guy. So if you run across a "long-winded" post of mine and favor the brief comment kind of posts, then feel free to ignore.

What I like best about this board, even more than the functional diversity of it, is the attitude of the posters, the apparently universal ability to get along when disagreeing. There are certainly a lot of disagreements but no one resorts to inane namecalling. Sure, youll find some good natured jocularity, some ribbing, but it's all in good fun. Some of the clowns on the espn board immediately let fly with their vituperative and end up sounding like junior high school kids.
Of course they may actually be junior high school kids.;)
