Johan's final start for the season is scheduled to be against New York, in New York.

With the possibility of playing them in teh 1st round of the playoffs, should the Twins push his start back a day so he can pitch at home against the Indians?

This does two things.

#1 - The Yankees hitters don't have the chance to look at Santana for 6-7 innings.

and

#2 - It gives the home fans one more chance to see Johan during this magical run.

IF this did happen, and this is only my opinion mind you, woud it hurt his Cy Young chances. Would it be perceived as having him start against a weaker team to pad his stats a little more at the end?

What does everyone else think?

Speaking for strategy, I like the idea, although there isn't much to figure out about Santana. That's what's great about him--he should be a great pitcher for years to come. Having three seperate pitches with the exact same arm slot and arm speed is lethal.

As for the Cy, it might hurt him a little, but at this point, does Shilling really have a legit shot at it? I think the media's just digging for dirt even though there should be plenty of other things to talk about.

I hope the twins do it, (strategy wise)...it makes sense...
First, Santana will be well rested for the playoffs.... and ready to pitch 2 games in the series

And for the CY Young.... i don't really care, East coast voters that are gonna vote schilling, are gonna vote schilling regardless of what santana does...he could pitch a perfect game with 27 K's against the yankees.... and they would still vote Schilling

(basically, one start may be used as an excuse, but it won't change the opinion of any voters)

Gardenhire said Saturday that Santana may only go 3 to 5 innings, possibly 75 to 80 pitches against the Yanks
