Without question it's the Vikings / Packers....Packers / Bears doesn't even hold a candle to this rivarly, not anymore.

Steelers-Browns was always a good rivalry, I don't know what the intensity's been like since they came back though.

recent history, yes. Overall history, Bears/Packers still rules.

remember LSU, in my lifetime the packers-bears rivalry has been anything but.... im pretty much used to brett owning them every time they take the field. Im well aware of all the history between the packers and the bears, in fact ive seen tapes of many of the older games, but my vote still goes to packers/vikes because thats been the most intense rivalry in my memory.

if you're referring to '61 '62 '65 '66 and '67 im quite familiar with how those seasons went... i wish i could say the same about the seasons in the 30's with curly lambeaus team, but i dont know much about that

Sorry, I remember those years where the Packers' whole goal was simply winning against the Bears. We had mediocre to average teams at best, playoffs? ROFL! Just beat the F****N BEARS!

Packers/Vikings, we're tied, <shrug>. We win one, they win one. I really don't care.

Packers/Bears? They're still up 8(?) games in the head to head. I want that changed!

If you're recognized as the league champion by your opponents ... yes.

the pack and vikings has heated way past the boiling point now. The Bears don't even hold a candle anymore.

The problem with the bear/packer rivalry is it always goes one way or another for a number of years. Before favre's latest streak (ended two weeks ago, finally) it was all bears. The pack/vikes are always going back and forth game by game. Plus there's more mutual respect between the fans in the bear/pack rivalry.

Recent history, yes it's the Queens and Pack, but overall in history, definatly its the Pack+Bears.

I used to like the rams/49ers matchup, but that's lost some of it's luster since the rams moved. Also raiders/broncos. That's lost it's luster since the raiders quit playing football

I respect most bears fans even though when im driving through chicago all those a-holes who are yelling at me for actually following the rules of road can all go to hell. Vikes fans are mostly delusional, they have some history in the club but seem to think that gives them a right to procaim themselves winnners of the division before every season starts. I feel bad for Lions fans. Tons of history, i believe one of the players was the co-star on Webster yet they seem to bad for the most part.

Packers/Bears is a bigger rivalry then the Vikes. IMO its more hatred with the vikes then rivalry.

You can tell there are a lot of Packers fans on these boards, b/c objective fans wouldn't pick Packers/Bears or Vikings. The best grudge matches are in the AFC West, hands down. Broncos-Raiders lead the way, with KC-Oakland and KC-Denver close behind. The hatred in Broncos-Raiders games is beyond anything in the NFC North.

though my personal bias tells me to go with pack/bears, I have to agree that the broncos/raiders game is right there with it.

Let me put it this way, since realignment of the divisions a few years ago...there are three divisions in footbal that are heads and shoulders above the others in grudge matches.

NFC East and North
AFC West

All other divisions cannot compare, I would say the AFC West is a notch below the two from the NFC and obviously I am biased but I think the NFC East is better then the NFC North.

The only reason I say this is for me, anytime there is a game in the NFC East it's a good grudge match. Eagles - Giants, Eagles - Cowboys, Giants - Cowboys, Skins - Cowboys, Giants - Skins and probably the worst of the grudge matchups is Skins - Eagles...which for me is huge since I live in the DC area.

I think every matchup with the Lions in the NFC North is where I would separate the two, but like I said, I'm probably biased.

I'd have to say the biggest Grudge match in football is between

America - America's team

regardless of what team you root for, unless you are a Cowboys fan, it has to feel good to see them lose. As far as i'm concerned any team that has the audacity to be called "america's team" will aquire all my rancor. I mean "I" didn't vote them america's team and i sure am sick of them being called that too.

speaking of which there is alot of tradition between the Pitsburgh- Dallas Rivalry, not that they play that often but there was always alot of bad blood between them ever since the first time they met in a super bowl

According to some people on this board the NFC East doesn't exist, unless they're playing the NFC North or TO says something to piss the world off

Does that just mean a heated rivalry where both teams basically hate each other?

YES! Like poking players from the other team in the eye, wearing a towel with a list of people you are planning on taking out, etc.

Cleveland v Pittsburgh is missing from that list. I am not a fan of either team, and last week's pregame fight was just the latest.

One of the keys to a rivalry is proximity. When the fan bases are close together, you get more action generated from that end. Thats whats missing from those AFC West and NFC East rivalries, IMO. If you have to drive more than 6 hours to get to a division game, you dont have the feeling you are crossing a border at some point.

In time, I think that the Seahawks/Rams rivalry could become a very fierce one. There were some fights and ejections in the last game.

Packers/bears is the most "classic" rivalry, GB and minnesota is more heated though, theyve been more of a competitor w/ the PACK as of the last 6 years.

the pack and vikings has heated way past the boiling point now. The Bears don't even hold a candle anymore.the bears packs is the longest rival in NFL history the only reason most pack fans now days want to down play it is because they dont want to look back at the history and see the bears have dominated the pack for years before favre showed up

Rivalries change as teams change. I'm a Packers fan, so the biggest one I see right now is Pack/Vikings, although Pack/Bears does have more historical precidence. I remember hating Dallas for years, and I'm pretty sure SF hates us.
Love watching Philly and Dallas play, and Seattle/ St.Louis is gonna be good for years to come. Jets/Patriots are fun to watch and Denver/KC are always battles.

I'm hoping Seahawks/Rams gets up there, I know the teams have come to hate each other and the fans aren't far behind. Me, I just feel like shearing some sheep right now out of "shear" frustration. Both teams suck this year.

LoyalSeahawkFan

My sentiments as well (although shaving a sheep didn't occur to me :) ) Night Hawks. Being a division leader isn't particularly fun when all your doing is stumbling slightly less that the other teams in the division.

Agreed, although us St. Louis Rams fans hate the Niners, too.
