Lackey's stinking big time so far. He was throwing nothing but meatballs up there today. It's hard for the offense to overcome 7 runs, but we almost pulled it off. Lackey's gotta start getting his pitches down...

Amazing that it's become an accomplishment to complete 6 innings. Mel Stottlemyre (24 complete games in a single season) must be cracking up.

Here's to John, who, under the tutelage of Bud Black, has really turned it around. After struggling to get through 5 innings throughout April and a portion of May, he's consistently going 7 innings and not getting enough decisions out of it. And, even though I think strikeouts are overrated, he IS striking out a lot of guys. His ERA is more than a run less than a year ago.

Lackey needed a good outing today against the Twins. In his last three starts, his ERA was up over 7. It was good to see him get a quality start today. More kudos to Bud Black.

Lackey sure gave it a great effort against the Blue Jays: 8 innings of shutout ball, only to see the lead slip away on a pair of bloop, broken bat singles. And another no-decision. Tough break for tha Angels, but they had the opportunities to put it away.

Lackey continues to put up good numbers with quality starts. He won #11 today and could still win 18 games or better, the way he's throwing. He's actually gotten to be tough in tight spots.

He's really been a force on my fantasy team. He's got great K numbers and is really underated right now. I cant believe he doesnt get more respect.

I know why, Because people like sportznut tell a rook like me to drop him.

Dammit nut, yet I am still 5th in the Brewers fantasy 16 teams.

Even though I think the strikeout is largely overrated, I do think that because he's third in the league in Ks, Lackey is finally getting some repect. But it's hard to tell becuase I mostly hear Hudler and Physioc announcing, and they are overboard in their proAngels stance. What I like is the way he turned it around from a simply horrible start to become a tough, dominant pitcher.

Big John has been in trouble in each of the first two innings tonight against the Red Sox. He's already thrown a lot of pitches. Get Kevin Gregg warmed up. I'm one of Gregg's biggest critics, but he's done a pretty good job the last three of four outings, and he can go a few innings. John won't last long throwing this many pitches.

Okay, Lackey's thrown 118 pitches and hasn't finished the 6th inning. Put the pen to use. Okay, 6 innings, 123 pitches. Give the guy a break.

Tonight against Baltimore, Lackey threw another gem. And lost. Lowered his ERA. And lost. On Fox Sports West, Gubizca and his sidekick were talking good about John. Gub called him "one of the best in the business." He's not winning a lot of games, but he's getting some recognition.

When you give up two runs, your supposed to get the W. It's tough for John that he got the loss, but he did everything he could. He really is emerging into a force though, isn't he.
