Tonight is the night, a new era begins in Washington

Why couldn't ESPN show this game instead of more Yankees Sox?

UPN channel 20 had the rights to the game. I watched mostly the whole thing. Was great to see the stadium so packed. Vinny Castilla is baffling. Just when everyone says he's through, he nearly hits for the cycle.

That beaning in the 8th was BS, Vinny only needed the single and got drilled ont he first pitch of the at bat.

Livan Hernandez 2 outs away from a 1 hit shutout, till he gave up a 3 run shot

Watching all the pregame hype, i thought that this had the makings of a flop opener. The players have been getting rushed all over the place for appearances and interviews. Earlier in the day some of them looked anxious and frazzeled, maybe even fed up with having to do so much on a game day. Luckily it worked out in the end.

Watched most of the game as well. I was out of the house right at 7:00 so I had my wife Tivo the beginning so I could see the pre-game festivities, and then they didn't even show any of that stuff live. I was pretty pissed. I was looking forward to hearing the announcement of the starting lineups and hearing the crowd reaction.

The game was pretty emotional though. When the Nats scored on Vinny's triple and then when they made him come out for a curtain call after his HR. Good stuff man.

all that pregame nonsense was being done on all the network channels. FOX even canceled the 6:00-7:00 o'clock simpsons hour to cover the game.

Well that just sucks. I know channel 20 doesn't even really want to be showing the games, but when they HAVE to, they should at least do it right. Especially when it is a game as big as last nights.

you think they dont want the games?

The only thing i can think of is that channel 20 doesnt have a new or reporter team.

I've read where they have said they don't want to interrupt their kick ass primetime lineup.

That Castilla thing was Bush League. They were leading 5-0 at the time too. Damn sorry display there.

they've got shitty shows. And if it werent for baseball i'd never watch channel 20.

They were trying to pimp commercials for thier crap durring the game, some lousy wannabe model show.

Our UPN dropped the Tigers this year. For some reason I don't get that channel on my DTV. Only thing I would watch it for is the Pistons and Tigers. I think they might have a couple Lions pre-season games too.

Nice article about last night's game:

I like the part about Eischen throwing a ball to one of the snipers.
