I'd say Drew rounds out the top 6.

i still say although i am biased that a guy like bonds who doesn't have as many hr or probably rbi as pujols. he just has a shit load of walks and a good OBP. with the way the giants are playing this year they might not even make playoffs. pujols deserves the MVP this year!

Personally, I still think Bonds deserves it.
With that being said, the media seems to be getting tired of him, and the fans are definitely tired of him (outside of the bay area.)
If the Giants don't make the playoffs, the writers won't need any other excuse not to vote for him.
If the Giants make the playoffs? I wonder if Rolen and Pujols will spilt ballots.
Oh - and I honestly think that Pujols is going to make a run at the triple crown, if he's healthy enough. If he even comes close, he'll probably take the MVP.

I think Pujols will probably have a chance to get VERY close. But I dont think he will get it. He has a very big chance of leading in HR and RBI but he has to have an Ichiro like jump if he wants to catch bonds in avg. He has a month and a half to make a jump of about 30 points.

Entering tonight's game, Pujols was hitting .324, Bonds .351.
On one hand - Bonds has a great head start, and doesn't get pitched to much.
On the other hand - Since Bonds has so few at-bats, if he doesn't hit, hit average goes down a lot. (Last night he went 0-2, his average dropped 2 points.)
I agree, average is a long shot. Pujols would have to have a monster hot streak, and Bonds would have to be pitched to, and be cold. But...

But...With Pujols you just never know, it seems like every year we see something new about him. The guy is an amazing player and making a huge leap in avg is certainly not out of question for Pujols. Didn't Ichiro jump like 40 points in about 2 weeks?

Albert got off to too slow a start average wise to get the Triple Crown this year. He'd need to go on a streak of 24-30 or something like that to have a shot. I just don't see it happening this year

Just for the hell of it, let's add Larry Walker in there. Hehehehehe
Nice win Larry!

Pujols wouldn't have to go on a 24 for 30 hot streak to have a shot at the batting title. Bonds is currently hitting .354. (Which is going to be hard, if not close to impossible, to catch.) If Pujols gets at-bats at the same rate he has all season (not a given), he would need to hit .439 the rest of the season to finish the year at .355. Not likely, mind you, but not impossible. (And that's if Bonds average stays at .354 - it could go either way.)
