"College was a good time, but it wasn't for me," he tells the Boston Globe. "I wasn't a big fan of going to school and going to class. It's not the place for me."
"I didn't think it was going to be as hard or as serious as it was."
What the hell is wrong with this kid? Yeah he's going to make money and be famous and everything but man get a freaking brain or is that too difficult for him too?
Athletes these days amaze me.

I'm a little suprised by the comments. He could have just said something like "I think that this is the best for my development as a player blah blah blah". Or something along those lines, theres about 100 cliches to use. He sounds like a bit of a dumbass with what he said.

I agree, he sounds like a dumbass. And really i dont think he's a cant miss prospect, he's overrated because who his dad is (IMO). Staying in school and getting an educations wouldn't have been a bad thing.

If he does make it in the NHL at least we can look forward to some funny interviews with him.
On a side note "I wasn't a big fan of going to school and going to class. It's not the place for me" = "I was failing my classes anyhow, so I better leave before they throw me out"

Or "Before they find out that I'm a retard, I'm going to leave school anyway and say its because of hockey."
Like I said before, athletes today amaze me.

It reminds me of one of my favorite sport quotes. About 25 years ago, a college basketball coach from a school that I no longer remember had one of his underclass players leave early and go to the NBA. The coach was asked whether he thought that the player made a mistake in not completing his education. The coach said, "No. If wants a college degree, he can buy a college and name it after himself like Oral Roberts did."
Bourque will get a big contract with a big bonus, so he'll be well set whether he makes it or not. It won't hurt that he has the right last name as has been mentioned.
