Jim Edmonds.
Rolen a close second.
Pujols not far behind.

the reason I dont say edmonds is because he is likely to back off some.

I dont think so. Rolen is likely to back off some, but not Jimmy. My vote would be for Edmonds because of his offense AND defense.

They've all been juggernauts on offense and defense. I think they are all pretty much equal in terms of raw production. Each is very similar and each is easily the best at his position.
However, the next best first basemen are a lot closer to Albert than the next best third basemen are to Rolen. But, the next best center fielders are much further back than that. Because of position, I go with Jimmy. Albert is just a notch above the rest of the best at first. Rolen is head and shoulders above the rest at third. But Edmonds is towering over the competition. There's just nobody close at his position.

I'm just worried they'll split the votes and Bonds will get it.
Y'all make great points. I'm going to go with Rolen. He carried the team the first two months. He's cooled down as of late, but he'll win another GG this year, be tops in the league in RBI and near the top in average. I'd put Pujols second and Jimmy third. Although I'd like to see any of them win it, since Jimmy was robbed of the MVP in 2000 and Pujols was robbed the past 2 years

I think they need to give it to all 3
can they do that??
Keith Hernandez and Willie Stargell shared the NL MVP in 1979. They were 'co-mvps'.
So it can be done, theoretically.
That's back when the Cardinals juggernaut was Keith Hernandez, Gary Templeton and George Hendrick. Oh, and Ken Reitz would hit .300 for the first month or so of the season. ;)

As a Twins fan and impartial observer...I would have to say Rolen at this point, but I haven't watched near as many Cards games as you guys so you probably know better then I.
What I'd love to see is a "Co-co-co" MVP shared between the three, they all deserve it.

This reminded me of MVP 2004, the song on the game My Coco, haha, thats just how I read "Co-co-co", I would say Pujols should get it b/c you can say he's a 1st basemen if you want to and then say that he isn't that far ahead, or you could say he's a 3rd basemen, or an OF, he's just so versatile and that is a huge plus for any team especially when he's that great of a hitter, b/c if a chance for another big bat at a position comes up he will move willingly for the good of the team, so he's an unselfish versatile guy
