Josh Green, playing for Manitoba Moose currently, mentioned a change in pay for the locked out NHL players.
NHLPA members have been receiving work stoppage pay during the owners' lockout. Players originally received $10,000 US a month but that has been cut to $5,000 US a month.

I feel awful, I wish that they posted an address so I could donate my own money to help them out.
Can someone pass me a tissue?

But seriously. The more I read stuff like this, the more I feel bad for the players that I know don't believe in what the PA wants and expects. The players that would gladly accept a 42.5 cap. The players that are greatful for the fact that they make great money playing a game for a living. These guys are being made to look like fools by the rest of the PA.

Yeah, someone like Mike Commodore. Really any of the youngsters that are just dying to get ice time. I'm sure once the league gets the replacement players going, lots of them will cross the picket line.

Not just young guys, but someone like Yzerman. A class guy who I'd bet doesn't agree with the PA and could see his career end because of this, but he tows the company line and doesn't complain. I'm other vets like Roberts, Shanahan and others feel the same way IMO. But they're looking greedy cause thy're lumped in with the PA. Those are the guys that I feel bad for. They've done so much for the game.
IMO I'd bet my life that they won't end up using replacement players.

I think they will use replacement players. The only way I can seem them not using replacement players is if a new agreement is reached.
The Kings GM said a few days ago that there will be hockey in the fall, take it for what its worth, but I really think that replacements will happen. Another interesting thing, if they do get replacement players, how much would they pay them? Would they put a cap on or something or just pay them a few grand a week or something or less?

The plan was always to lessen the lockout pay the longer they were locked out...

What i want to know is who is getting this pay, i'd be pissed if i needed the money and found out Jagr or Blake were collection this money too.

I think I read that there is a law in Canada banning the hiring of replacement workers during a labor dispute. That would complicate things considerably.
